Hello SD .. Its Time for Some Changes

(fzl) #1

I read in the last days more and more Threads about the “all class can all” Discussion

and more and more players are very frustrated after the last Update…

My feeling is that Db is Going the Wrong Way with this different Changes about “Class Based Playing” and “Missing Grenades” and some other Staff.

Ok this Alpha is for Testing, but i feel that more than 70% of the Players are not happy with this Changes…:o:o:o

So What will we do…and what will do Splash Damage:confused:

More and more Players left the Alpha atm (Playtime reduced under 10%):rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Myself is an Oldchool Player, i start Online Playing with Q3, then RTCW , Et and Quake Wars (and many many Competitions) and i have the feeling this all goes to a bad Way:(

SO WHAT NOW SD???

Note: sry 4 my bad English…P:

It’s so good to know that I’m definitely not alone in my frustration. We’re in this together, guys!

(Seiniyta) #3

But are even more threads really neccecary? I could understand a thread regarding the communication of SD toward the community and laying out the plans better but otherwise this seems like an utterly useless thread for complaining?

(Nail) #4

1 of very many

(Seanza) #5

People are feeling that their opinions are getting lost in threads, and quite rightly so. At least I’ve seen fzl voice his concerns in a number of threads with very little response.

Post away, I say. At least you can say you’ve tried, if nothing else.

(INF3RN0) #6

The frustration towards classless objs I understand. It was a core part of the meta game in prev titles. The game functions without them, but it’s not fun or exciting. The change obviously was rushed, so I’d like to see a very swift update on class proficiencies before I go making my own separate complaint threads.

I like the grenade as a special ability item, especially in DB. It’s not a core part of the game. I would however like to see something new for all classes to fill their spot though.

(Seanza) #7

I don’t think so. This update came out around 2 months after the previous one. And if it was rushed, why rush it?

(Protekt1) #8

The classless objs is a rather small part of the rather big update. If it was rushed it was probably because they wanted to start testing and gathering echo stats in order to proceed for the next phase of testing/balance.

Many games nowadays use stats and analysis to direct balance. It is our role to provide those stats via just playing.

(spookify) #9

A frustration thread is needed! I really really want to play a shooter for hours on end but not this alpha anymore. I dont need a shooter with a ton of bells I just want it to be balanced and reward good aim and skill.

ET and RTCW did it right!

Get this COD and BF3 crap out of your heads SD!

Also let me get this straight that the end goal will still allow medics to plant however the time to plant will be 80% longer then the engy? So for example in ET:Supply if a medic somehow got through the door at first stage they could plant the next door and build CP? And Have medic packs to regen on the other side making for a split push totally killing the first obj. Yes an engy could get through but you could send a medic after him and kill him no prob. Most likely it was a covy to re blow up the cp that was build but you know what I mean haha.

(scre4m.) #10

I am sure the devs didnt miss that many alpha testers are not pleased with character based DB as well as many players criticize the way nades/grenade launchers and stuff is handled.

Opening more and more threads without bringing NEW feedback wont help much though. Just give the devs some time to get things right.

(Nail) #11

if W:ET did it right, why don’t you still play it, W:ET was busted on release and took several years of updates and bani to fix it

(Seanza) #12

Nail, I must say, I don’t ever recall seeing you play Dirty Bomb. How many hours have you played recently (or at all)?

(Nail) #13

I’ve played 25 minutes on Aus server, had a great time, If you mean against people. Played by myself more, but I have shattered left hand and wrist, got sprint bound to Q so I can run forward. I’m obviously incapable to offer competition advise, but I try offer overall impressions. I’m impressed you didn’t attack me outright

(Ashog) #14

WRONG! It has always been a core element, in absolutely every freaking single game apart from TF2 which I’d never play. You are very very wrong here, admit it.

(Seanza) #15

Not sure what you mean about being surprised I didn’t attack you outright? And with all due respect, I think your lack of time played doesn’t quite justify a lot of the responses I’ve seen you give people with the “suck it up princess” kind of attitude.

(Kl3ppy) #16

Yes, its a core element, but it’s not bad to remove the nades. The only thing I dont like, is the thing that the medic is the only class which isnt able to counter some camping. The assault/fops/engie have at least one layout with explosive support.

(Ashog) #17

Well, it is bad. I can tell you right now I most probably won’t be playing this game if nades are not back, as I did with TF2 after all of these 4 years of QW:TF. Had TF2 nades, I’d be probably playing it right now and not sitting between 4 dead SD games totally bored and waiting for something.

(Kl3ppy) #18

Just curious, but what would be ok for you?

All medics get a frag grenade as they had before.
The fop with the airstrike and molotov dont get a nade, they have an explosive already (airstrike marker which should deal also a fair amount of damage, molotov is a nade), the arty fops gets a nade back
Every assault already has explosives, conc nade, frag nade and gl
One engie has sticky mines, make them throw able -> some sort of nade, give the other 2 engies the nades back
Covie, the one with 3rd eye has some sort of nade, but the other 2 need some explsove -> give nade back

To counter the spam, increase the cooldown times for the special abilities (airstrike marker, sticky nades, 3rd eye, molotov, reload of gl)
Would that be ok for you?

(Ashog) #19

No it won’t.

Every class has to get exactly one nade like before because it is absolutely needed to clear up the indoor choke points. Airstrikes and conc nade are not helpfull at that. Fragger can get a nade on a cooldown as a special ability as now.

Not to mention that having no nades totally removes the basic FPS enjoyment of dancing with a nade and cooking it presisely so that it explodes in someone’s face. Hell this is the basic ABC for an FPS game since Quake1 and is as vital as reviving, healing or giving out ammo! I don’t think I have to explain THAT or?

No, you dont have too
I’m also not that happy without nade itself but it could work if every mercs has a nade or something similar which has the same effect as a nade and requires the same skill like cooking a nade etc. If we get nades in the current build, it would be a spam fest. Imagine every merc has a nade now. It would a constant explosion game. I agree instead of removing things, SD should try to balance all the stuff so it can be part in the game at the same time.
