I used to play Enemy Territory and True Combat Elite on Pcs and on a Ibook and never had any problems.

However I just bought a MacBook and cannot seem to make it work again.
When I click on the Enemy Territory icon, I have a black screen with green letters telling ‘looking for cpu’ ‘found dual core’ and then that screen disapear and I just hear some kind of an angry hornet sound repeating itself forever.

When I force the application to quit, it says between brackets : Enemy Territory (not responding)

I’ve been told by MacBook users to create a file called autoexec.cfg containing that text :

seta r_fullscreen “0”

and to paste it into the etmain folder. It did make the black screen with green lines go a bit farther, but then it blocked again.

When I force quit, if I ask for a report, it tells me that :

ET doesn’t support dual core. Even that I’m not familiar with the error I’m pretty sure that setting it to run on single core fixes it. I don’t have dual core, so I don’t remember clearly how to set it to run on one core, but atleast if not here said, atleast on et.com there’s a huge amount of chat about it. So search if you don’t know how to set it running on one core.

How did you learn that ? Is that from a sure source of info ?
So this would mean all of us who’ve bought dual core MacBook have made a bad deal ?

I’m getting closer to my goal. I’ve been told you can force an application to use just one core.
And it seems to solve the ET problem; anyone knows how to do that ?

I know even less about mac, but here is a good site, where there has been a lot of talking about the subject. There should found for mac too. ET.com

Well I myself have a mackbook and it works. I had the same problem too (with the buzzing sound) and I fixed it using the autoexec file.

You must write:
seta r_colorbits “32”

and save it as autoexec.CFG and put it in your etmain.

check if your folder is read only (write protected)

Can you download the file in general ?

  • If so,Save the file on your desktop and drag it into the ETmain folder

(that’s the only solution I see with your info :slight_smile: )

I have played ET on my mac for several months, and now I suddenly get black screen w/music on startup.
Had the same problem a while ago, but that time the autoexec fixed it.
I have downloaded and installed every version I could find, but it still wont work!

I use macbook pro osx 10.6.7 …

Anyway, it worked for a long time and now it dont. Its weird; right??

Could there be driverupdates I dont get through the softwareupdates on my computer?

Today I downloaded True Combat, exact same problem.

hey hotflash

if you’re using the latest release of True Combat, it’s not compatible with Mac and will cause a crash or ET not running at all.

Your other issue could be related. Some mods in ET aren’t mac compatible and will shut down your game.
Driver updates shouldn’t be the issue, though

You can’t start up the game at all?

I’m running 10.6.7 as well, but I don’t need the autoexec file.
My ET version is ET 2.60b4

As I said:
I get black screen with music on startup. Everything is normal exept no visual. Its a known problem, but hard to fix.

I downloaded TCv0.49 from http://www.truecombatelite.com/tce.php?page=downloads
Its supposed to be mac compatible. Its an apple button.

The problem is ET, or the way it runs on my mac.
It was working before, and now not.

I remember changing size of the aiming circle-thing last time I played.
But that shouldnt be the problem.

I deleted my Wolfenstein Enemy Territory folder in the Applications folder, the ~/Library/Application Support/ folder and in the ~/Library/Preferences/ folder. Then reinstalled and now it works!

Its probably obvious, but im not a computer guy.

Im so happy now.
