Heat - Soon to be released.

These last many weeks I’ve been working on a new map called “Heat”.
The allied forces have succeeded in pushing out the axis forces from the african continent.
A small group of axis forces do not wish to leave without causing as much havoc as possible.
They wish to use some of the deadly poisen the axis scientists have developed and contaminate the entire regions watersupply. Unluckily, they were pushed out from their base where the poisen is hidden.
Therefore, they will have to take their last tank, use it to secure their base and escort it to the waterfacility. After breaching the wall, they will be in a position to shut down the facility security locks and poisen the water supply.

The map is almost finished. The final scripting needs to be done and more detail and optimization will have to be done before the first beta is released.
I will, however, regulary post screenshots of the different areas and explain points of interest.


The first axis spawn. Inside this warehouse the axis will have to grab the crate with construction materials.
Perhaps they’ll find a use for it?


The tank. The axis have reenforced their last tank to make it more resistant to enemy fire.


The road splits. One is certainly for the tank, but what about the other?

Yeah! There’s not much scripting left for the beta 1. I’m not sure if I’ll do everything for the beta 1, probably gonna leave something like VO’s and the limbo stuff for beta 2. Or what do you think ppl, do we need those for beta 1?

NO! Everything is getting in the beta.
I do not wish to release a half assed beta just because its a beta. :slight_smile:
I want to use the beta for proper testing of gameplay :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Ok. I guess I have to make the scripting perfect then for the b1. It’s gonna take more time, and the release is gonna delay by a month I think (cos I’m 4 weeks off). :slight_smile: :rolleyes:

Than - imo - before you go off release the beta without the sound announces, at least we can try the gameplay on the map. New maps ftw! :eek:

I’d rather delay it and give the players a sense of a finished map than release them in smaller bits. Plus, I got enough pictures to stretch for 4 weeks :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

If something like scripting isn’t complete, but you want a release, release an alpha instead of a beta.

A new batch of screens:


The main road might prove to be troublesome if the axis are not able to deliver a quick strike and push the allied defenders back. Mortars and arty support would be able to block the entire path and halt any further axis progress.


While the tank uses the main road, the axis will be able to take a shortcut via the small alleys.


The alleys offer protection from airstrikes and arty supports, as the buildings will cover most of the shells and bombs. However, rifle nades, machine guns and panzafausts would be able to stop any attack if not careful.

Luckily, I was able to fix the terrain earlier today, so now the builds actually cast shadow on it. Don’t ask me what was wrong, as I dont even know it myself, but it looks better now.

if I could suggest something it’d be some more cover on the streets, that may change game play a bit such as boxes or Czech hedgehogs that players can use as cover (giving that the tank still fits)

The map objectives are almost a complete ripoff from the Quake Wars map where the strogg are trying to contaminate the areas water supply ^^
Though, its a bit reverse. Axis are attacking, trying to poison the water.

There are too few good desert maps out there, so I’m looking forward to this one.
