Headshots need to be completely disabled for automatic weapons

I only skimmed through the first page, but thought I would still comment on this, more for the OP than for you, but still it’s a valid point.

If it’s a soldier shooting you with AP Ammo and the Engineer damage buff, would it not take only a few rounds only to the chest to kill most people?

If that’s the case, it wouldn’t be so random and luck and they may not make any headshots at all, they just get a normal damage buff plus another 50% buff (I think thats right, because after the first damage boost buff isn’t the second one only 50% of what it normally is?), and with that they would only need to land far fewer shots on anybody who isn’t a medic/doesn’t have a medic’s buff.

Factor that in with short controlled bursts, which there are PLENTY of people who do this by the way, which makes their aim more accurate than just laying on mouseone it would be very likely to seem to die instantly. Especially if they get the jump on you.

I lol’d, thanks for that one.

Anyone ever played Killzone 2 (and perhaps 3 too) online? That **** was horrendous when it comes to headshots. You could literrally - and I’m not exaggerating here - die when you walk out of a spawn because a random bullet, from a gunfight miles away, hit you in the head by pure luck.

That **** was so unfair, so frustrating, so annoying, so goddamn rediculous stupid, that I wish I could slap the living c*nt out of whoever programmed that.

I’m all for making random headshots a myth, rather than an factual occurrence.
It seems that nowadays it’s the in-thing to have weapons that are completely inaccurate in order to simulate the realistic scenario of someone operating a machinegun with their elbow, to take the responsibility of holding steady aim away from the player by enforcing completely random spread in all directions upon everyone. I assume this sits well with the console crowd because HUR DUR JOYPADS. Being incapable of aiming at anything is certainly less of an issue if the game makes sure that nobody else can effectively aim at anything either by equally gimping everyone.
You know what they say about people that assume things. Seriously, why try to blame SD’s choice in this matter on the consoles? I’m just as upset with their choice as many others are as I prefer to take the time to properly aim rather than simply spraying and hoping for the best. Random bullet spread is entirely random; it benefits no one least of all players that cannot aim as they have even less of a chance to maximize the chances of getting a headshot.

And for the record, a random value within a defined range is not equal for everyone as you still have to be within that range to be effective. A skilled player will minimize the random values while a novice will rely entirely on them; one is still superior to the other however.

Yet the more it’s random, the more you reduce the gap between ultra-skilled player and noob. I can see where it is frustrating.

This is why I detest COD, it has turned players into “scan hit” weapon lovers. It’s like going back in time, if you want scan hit accuracy, Quake with all railguns, go enjoy. Show your “skill”.

Fact is, all weapons are not laser accurate, our games are progressing towards realism, weapons have a degree of accuracy. To give an extreme example. Try headshotting me with a musket vs a GOL-Sniper Magnum at 50 feet…

If you want your headshots to count, select a more accurate weapon, you want fully automatic, accurate SMG’s?? That is a n00b request if I ever heard one!! I can nail headshots pretty consistantly with the rifles, less so with the AR’s, more so with pistols and least with SMG’s and minigun. THAT seems correct to me. But then I understand how this accuracy level “tests” skill.

Leave the weapon balance alone! Thanks.

There’s simply too much difference between head and body shots. Either increase the damage on a body or decrease it on a head.

Recoil and spread have nothing to do with hitscan. All of the weapons in Brink (except for the nade launchers) are hitscan - No bullet drop or travel time and tracer drawn separately.

The main problem that I see with the CARB-9 is that it does not reward bursting - Its spread starts out moderate and stays moderate, so if you spray 3 bullets or 15 bullets you still maintain the same accuracy and the bloom does not increase much at all. Compare this to, for example, the Buldpaun which has a fairly tight crosshair that gains a ton of bloom if you continually spray it.

DjIceman, it seems you end up in alot of 50/50 firefights. Try anticipating where the enemy is. If you don’t know, a good tip is to stay with your team. I agree, that if you see another guy wielding the same weapon as you, the fight is 50/50, and probably down to luck.

Using http://denkirson.xanga.com/738334226/brink/ ; CARB-9 takes 7 bullets to the chest to kill a unbuffed medium. 5 to the head. 7 bullets x 0.066 firetime: 0.462sec 5 bullets: 0.33 sec. In a 50/50 fight, that actually makes a differece. But, if you start the fight (just hitting chest), your enemy have to react in 0.132 sec, then hit every shot in your head to win. I dont think that seems to unbalanced… This is given that you are both unbuffed medium using CARB-9.

Edit: Lol, didnt see that there was 3 pages here :stuck_out_tongue: oh well

Wow. This discussion has gone pretty far. I didn’t expect this. Well, carry on.

Let me put another point out there: LMGs. Now, LMGs have absolutely piss poor accuracy and with just one exception, they don’t even have iron sights. However, people get headshots with those weapons regardless. I would even argue that headshots happen more often with LMGs, as opposed to ARs or SMGs.

It’s damn near impossible to even try to get proper, skillful headshots with such LMGs. It’s just not going to happen. You can try all you want, but the spread is quite simply ridiculous. Especially if you’re moving about.

not sure if you’re being sincere (the world should have a dedicated sarcasm font), but regardless you’re welcome!
