Have XP count towards something?

(ZeroFactor) #1

XP currently is pretty useless apart from a few mode unlocks and bragging rights.

How about unlocking little cosmetics or trinkets with increase of level? (no “weapon or merc upgrades” as that automatically makes some players “superior” to others

(HunterAssassin5) #2

Yeah, like a badge or something you can equip on your character with your player lvl on it.

(Kiyoshi) #3

Woah woah woah We have Bugs out the ass in this game and you want cosmetics??? Cmon now.

(neverplayseriou) #4

Nah, xp is great for being harassed too, some guy with 2 vac bans (1 only 50 days old) called me “a sad fuck” (oh the irony) and “a lvl 39 n word” for not playing with my own lvl :stuck_out_tongue:

It counts towards toxic reactions by people thinking this is a RPG or just plain don’t thinking. Though you have to wait to reach at least level 40 to feel the full wrath.

@MarsRover Dude, this bugged me for a while, and I can’t hold it anymore:
Aren’t there bacterias on mars? They did find some, right? They inhabitants.

(MarsRover) #7

@Jostabeere AFAIK - currently there nothing alive on Mars that we know of. There is a meteorite that crashed on Earth that maybe is from Mars from millions of years ago that has something that a small minority of researchers think is fossilized microbes.

There are some local spikes of methane in the thin Martian atmosphere detected by Curiosity (pictured in my signature), which may indicate something alive but they could as well have geological origin.

Curiosity also found some organic chemicals in the soil, but not the life itself. It also detected nitrogen when heating some rocks which also indicates that Mars could have been suitable to life in the past.

This is my understanding as of early 2015 because I haven’t had the time to follow Mars exploration since then.

Lol no. They haven’t found any bacterias on mars. If they did it’d be the biggest scientific news in decades.

Didn’t Lemino on Youtube say that some extremophiles made it on the rovers?

(MarsRover) #10

From what I read it was found out that the procedures used to sterilize (or whatever it is called) Curiosity (and probably previous missions) may leave some organisms alive. It is unknown if there actually were any on the rover. It is also unknown if they would be able to survive the flight to Mars. Again, my knowledge about a year out date. And I’m not a expert in any of this.

Edit:
Well, I made a similar rover-on-a-sky-crane mission to Duna in KSP, so there’s that

I posted this in response to a similar post: Godlike Badge!

They should just kill the level thing…to many times people treat it like level = skill…plus playing every now and then with @Amerika , people often jab him in the chops about his level, which is ironic because we have people in the triple digits.

Which is even odder because I rarely see people bring other peoples levels up often…like people like to hate on him because of his level. I mean I’ve played in matches with at least two or three people over level 100…yet no one bothered them.

Anyways…back on topic…it could be nice OP…maybe some cosmetics they could design or something. Maybe can save it up and purchase cases or something.

(HunterAssassin5) #13

Make it so your level drops and rises based on how well you’ve been playing recently. In the last 24 hours, had an accuracy of 80%, average lifespan of 12 mins, give him a lvl 40. Or something like that

Also a sort of rating of performance. Main engineers and does a lot of objs and side objs, give him an engineer badge, so people can immediately know what their teammates will most likely do by looking at them.

(PleasantWheat) #14

What about a seperate lvl system based on what kind of xp you get? So instead of overall xp level you have a combat, support and objective level? Just a point for discussion

Cool idea but I don’t know how the majority would take it. Sometimes you gotta think about the misrepresented minorities though too.

Another cool idea, I definitely like the idea of breaking down the XP earned into categories
I think some of you have seen my post of that other persons post (whom I cannot remember) that suggests adding badges/trinkets/stickers (cosmetic) for lifetime achievements such as “achieve X many revives” or “heal X amount of teammates health”.
This could be paired up with your idea @PleasantWheat and have “achieve X amount of Y xp”

(PleasantWheat) #16

Yeah exactly, I’ve also seen suggestions on splitting up xp to help with balancing matches, matching players together so that they have an all around equal amount between the three. For example, I play almost exclusively as a medic so i would be placed on the team that has a lower overall support xp amount between the players. Having that instead of straight up lvl being the defining factor, but this is a discussion for another board. I also remember a suggestion regarding having a “merc lvl”. So the more total xp you got with a merc the higher lvl they would get, as you go through the lvls you can acquire trinkets and maybe even merc specific doo-dads (skins, alt clothing etc). If they dont make any changes to the whole aggregate lvl thing I’d like to at least get some better cases instead of an equipment case every lvl, an expert every 5 and an elite every 10 would be cool to see.

(Kiyoshi) #17

The levels would be next to your name in numbers But like Combat lvl would be in red Support in Green and Objective in Blue? Idk, Just a thought.

(Kiyoshi) #18

Spend 100k xp for a case?? or 50k? 1mil for expert and 2mil for Elite??? just shooting shit out my ass but idk id like to see that c:

(PleasantWheat) #19

@Kiyoshi Yeah something like that. (Blue support, Red combat, Yellow Objective) I have just thought of a problem with that seperate xp train of thought tho. Because certain players get more of a certain type of xp (I’m going to use myself as an example cus im a narsassistic twat) then they will be forever forced to play that role. I get so much support xp playing medic its insane (50k in a stopwatch game as an aura not bragging im just giving my best example) so im always going to be put on the side that more than likely NEEDS a medic. That completely screws me if i want to play anything BUT a medic. That sort of burden would kill it for me so I’m assuming it will do the same to anyone else this happens to.

(Kiyoshi) #20

Well they dont need to use that algorithm it could just be for aesthetics Id like to know how much xp some people have gotten in different areas.
