If you’ve got no facebook what then? If you join through the regular system? Re-captcha is awesome!

Out of interest. What’s stopping the bot makers just auto creating facebook accounts and then using them to log into many websites? I can’t imagine engineering account creation, confirmation and even cross account friending and status updates would be any harder than navigating through forum security.

 if you dont have FB then you can still register easy with just your name and password:) there is no email confirmation at all.

adding captcha? lol, never!

Doesn’t facebook have captcha in place to stop the bots registering? Basically FB is doing the leg work of weeding out the bots for him

(xTriXxy) #45

thats true. also big + to avoid bots is database of IP’s
http://www.stopforumspam.com/downloads/ , its easy to add to ban list all these IP’s

been a long time since I registered at facebook so wasn’t sure what new security they had. Still if they’re offering a sing in once and authorise to many service it’s got to be a very juicy target for spammers even if they employ humans to circumvent the capture type security.

which they do, just look at the newest members on list, at least half of them have spam in their about me or sig
