Guys....... im torn :/

(naedae) #1

guys, i need help. brink & la noire are coming out in 2-3 weeks. im gunna buy both , but which first? so, if i choose brink , ill probably get LA Noire 2 weeks later and vice versa if i get LA Noire first.so… which first ? im torn  i know both will be great.choose a side and convince me why i should choose it. thnx, much appreciated.

i know this IS the brink forums, so can u try being unbiased ? All of last week i was saying im just gunna go with LAN. this week , i changed my mind and said im goin with brink . i have a feeling im gunna keep changing my mind until release. :*(

(Linsolv) #2

LA Noire is a single player game; it’s going to be there indefinitely. Brink is a MP game, and that tends to mean that the best “window” to play is early. After 2 weeks, there will be a lot of people with intimate knowledge of the maps and many of the weapons unlocked even at the lower tiers.

(naedae) #3

were u being unbiased ? :stuck_out_tongue:
i understand …thats a very good point

(EcafNoGav) #4

You’ve got a point but from what I understand, You can play Brink’s multiplayer with bots that are supposedly really effective which is a good way to catch up. You really can’t go wrong either way but I’d go for Brink first only because it’s coming out sooner. I wouldn’t be able to wait and Brink will probably keep your mind off L.A.Noire until you can get it.

(Linsolv) #5

Of course I was being unbiased. If you play Brink for 6 months, you want it to be the first 6 months. Whenever MP games go REALLY wrong, it’s later, when exploits are discovered. Hopefully it won’t happen that way, but there are pretty much no examples of MP games that started bad and got great. On the other hand, there are examples abound of SP games that needed early patches pretty badly and turned out to be good in hindsight coughfalloutcough.

(naedae) #6

ahhhh… im still unsure. EcafNoGav makes a good point. but, i guess in reality im afraid of being screwed into buying a buggy @$$ game *cough cough homefront
on the other side , i guarantee LAN will be good because theyre associated with Rockstar but then again , brink is associated with SD.

ETQW is one example that started bad and got great.
While there were far more people playing it in the early days, the steep learning curve meant that the games were pretty terrible in quality. Players who couldn’t handle it, ended up leaving for other games and gradually the game got better and better as players started to appreciate its depth.

Personally its FAR more interesting, when everyone knows the ins and outs of a game than the first 6 months.

I would agree with this, but also i think it’s a little less relavant with Brink due to the many mechanics that make it easier for new players.

I’m with whoever said get Brink because it comes out a week earlier, when a game I’m jonesing for comes out I want to play it as soon as possible, so I wouldn’t be able to wait a week for LAN while everyone else is playing Brink.

(Dormamu) #9

At the moment you are 85% LAN ~ 15% Brink .
From what you have write you already are acting like a detective :D: “convince me”; “which”; “i have a feeling”; so the right choice for you is LAN first :).
Personally i chose Brink - > Witcher2 -> Skyrim ->DE:HR -> RAge? -> … -> LAN

Oh I definitely dont think its relevant with Brink. Its clear, SD are trying to dodge that bullet.

@OP i vote la noire cough

(SIiced Bread) #11

On the other side…LA NOIRE is going to be a game that you KNOW is going to play the way you think it is. Brink is a ? mark for most. What if it’s hyped? What if the gameplay isn’t what most people thought?

think homefront
think Medal of Honor

While not the same game, still…hyped and let down was the feeling most got.

brink comes out a week before the other. Buy brink and play it for the week. If you think you are getting bored or want to go ahead and do both games at the same time…go for it.

(Linsolv) #12

Well, to be honest, I didn’t get the grassroots feeling I’ve gotten with Brink, from MoH or Homefront. Whenever I’ve heard anyone with a soapbox to stand on, they’re often like “Brink looks kinda neat, interesting concept, now let’s get back to BF3.”

With Homefront, I heard nothing from individuals, only big companies. With Medal of Honor, there was a beta, and a lot of people really didn’t like it.

With Brink, it’s the people who don’t seem like they’re part of the PR machine who have really come out and said “Holy poop, Brink is MUCH better than I expected.”

(BioSnark) #13

If you’re going to get both games, anyway, (and within weeks.) the order in which you get them in is not exactly life changing. Really!

Why do you expect us to be biased?

Toss a coin.

(hamstein) #15

LA : Noire: as you know is made by Rockstar and should be awesome. Though as Linsolv said it will be there forever, you will probably only play it once as well. You could get it sooner and beat it though the story may somehow be spoiled for you if you wait too long.

Brink: Again as Linsolv said it’s a multiplayer game so it will be better to get it early. In my experience some of the best multiplayer experiences come from a time when I’m equally as bad and clueless as everyone else on my team.

(Seyu) #16

So, you like a multiplayer game when no one knows anything?

(II Captain K II) #17

Get Brink first. LAN will surely drop in price fairly quickly on Amazon or some other outlets. Also, since brink comes out first.

(naedae) #18

yea, u guys made valid points, thank you. especially since its a mp game and ill be at a disadvantage if i get it later.
so instead of making a new thread, i have a few questions if u dont mind :stuck_out_tongue:

  1. is there matchmaking ( console )? if not, how the heck do u start a match… i heard there are options and you choose wether or not u want randoms to join… so is that how the competitive mp in brink is gunna be? ( if so thats lame tbh)
  2. in a vid, the person went to his command post. there he changed his weapon. BUT, wtf? i thought u get to customize all of ur weapons … do u customize ur weapons pre game and then when u go to the command post , the weapon u choose will be ur customized weapon?

sry 4 my poor grammar. englis isn’t my 1st language

  1. Yes there’s matchmaking, at least for the consoles. I wouldn’t know how to start it though cause I play on PC and the games not even out yet.
  2. You do get to customize weapons, but only outside the game.

(IceBrazuca) #20

You should get Brink first since it’s coming out a week before L.A Noire, also why not pre-order it as well to get the extra goodies.

My response is this because you said you would get both and you would get the other one around 2 weeks later.

If you are thinking you will only be able to get one game and the other one after a month or more later then I would suggest you getting LA Noire first if you feel its a safer.
