Guys....... im torn :/

L.A. Noire is the “safe” option for a Rockstar fan.

Brink is the safer option for FPS fans and traceurs.

(Herandar) #22

Next you’ll say that BRINK is made by Bethesda. You are going to make an awesome detective.

For me, L.A. Noire is flawed. If you are a bad detective, the game will compensate so that you can advance the story. I don’t imagine that it would do well if 90% of players couldn’t crack the case, which I feel would be far more entertaining.

(Mustkunstn1k) #23

I’ll try to be as unbiased as I can because I will be getting both. But for me LA Noire can wait. It’s a single-player only game. I want to get into Brink’s multiplayer first.
guys, i need help. brink & la noire are coming out in 2-3 weeks. im gunna buy both , but which first? so, if i choose brink , ill probably get LA Noire 2 weeks later and vice versa if i get LA Noire first.so… which first ? im torn  i know both will be great.choose a side and convince me why i should choose it. thnx, much appreciated.

i know this IS the brink forums, so can u try being unbiased ? All of last week i was saying im just gunna go with LAN. this week , i changed my mind and said im goin with brink . i have a feeling im gunna keep changing my mind until release. :*(
Common sense would say to get Brink first if you’re going to get both anyway… it comes out sooner and thus you will have both games sooner since you get that extra week “free” as opposed to getting Brink a couple weeks after LA Noire which has a later release date.

So yes a new game in your hand sooner if you go with brink.

Seeing as BRINK is MP and LAN is SP, here is what you do:

Buy BRINK, so you can play MP whenever you want.
and as for LAN…

Rent it

(Arcsz) #26

Brink first because it is out earlier…that seems like a no brainer to me.

(Whydmer) #27

L.A. Noire was developed by Team Bondi as well as Rockstar who is distributing it. minor quibble, but worth the distinction I think.

(Herandar) #28

Lara Croft is in Brink?

(BioSnark) #29

raiding lost arcs or smth

Brink is the safer option for FPS fans and traceurs.

How is the last bit relevant? It just screams tryhard.

(obliviondoll) #31

I don’t see it.

If you’re a fan of the way Rockstar games play (and yes, L.A. Noire is only published by them, but it fits the same basic mold as every other Rockstar game), then that game looks to be a safe option.

Brink is FPS, so if you’re a fan of that perspective, L.A. Noire might not be so good (not FPS).

Brink incorporates elements drawn from Parkour (which was the first major reason I started looking at it), and seems to be doing similar things with those elements to what Mirror’s Edge did. If you’re a traceur, that should appeal to you.

How is that tryhard?

Ask Cpt. K to define art.

You act like they were targeting traceurs… and that they account for more than .01% of the sales. It just seems like you’re trying to announce you’re a gymnast gone rogue. Any time you have a remote chance of staying on topic you mention it.

(ultraddtd) #34

To play devil’s advocate:

L.A. Noire is the most likely game to be spoiled since it’s a single player game that relies heavily on the narrative to drive the game play. Even the previews give away some details on the individual cases, and I’m to the point where I’m doing a self-imposed media blackout until I get my hands on the disc.

So, that might be a reason why, if you had to choose between the two for now, L.A. Noire might be a first choice.

With that said, I’m definitely getting Brink first because I’m jazzed up for that game.

Also, about the whole Team Bondi/Rockstar thing, I believe Rockstar lent their engine to Team Bondi and developed and created the open world Los Angeles for the game, while everything else is TB.

pretty much this:

You act like they were targeting traceurs… and that they account for more than .01% of the sales. It just seems like you’re trying to announce you’re a gymnast gone rogue. Any time you have a remote chance of staying on topic you mention it.

and the fact that the OP was asking which he should buy. By the way, if you are trying to advertise being a “traceur” on the internet, it’s not very convincing.

(BiigDaddyDellta) #36

depends on you man I’m all over brink because I need something new for online multiplayer and this looks like it’s headed for some awards. L.A. Noire is as well especially with the new facial graphics but theyre two totally different genres and gaming expiriences so I can’t really say… reffer to my Brink avatar lol.

(Mustang) #37

Everytime I see this thread it makes me think of this, so I’m just going to go ahead and post it…

(Herandar) #38

Funny, I was thinking the exact same thing. Well, the song, not that particular video of it…

(kratier) #39

ok well just replying to first 2 guys

1- LA noire is singleplayer only and not free roam game like most GTA games (both confirmed)
2- LA Noire is not made by rockstar development team, it is published by rockstar, its developers are “Team Bondi”
3- “Team Bondi” has never published a game before, EVER. It is a brand new studio.

As much as i love games like Police quest, or SWAT2, i will wait until the reviews chime in, this is a singleplayer game, where i wont miss out if i wait a week or two.

(II Captain K II) #40

I didn’t know it was actually developed by a different studio. I was never a huge fan of rockstar anyways, so I might check it out after the price drops.
