I think you mean “Valid CDkey is not reaching GuidAuth Server.” you can fix that by deleting your etkey.key located in your enemy-territory etmain folder.
after you deleted the key pull down the console and type \pb_cdkeyreg

S.P.G: I’ve been getting this error quite a lot recently too (seems to coincide with ETPro 3.0.1 being released?).

Chr0nicles: I’ll try your suggestion later as I’m at work atm, but surely if it was a key problem, you would get the error for everytime you try to connect rather than what appears to be random?. For instance, I could not get onto our clan server the other night cos I kept getting this message yet I could get on other servers. Later on, I could get on our server albeit too late :frowning:

I have the same problem with random servers as well. It’s usually prefaced with a “This server is for low pings only” failed connection. The I hit reconnect and get that Key message. Seems to be a bug. ASE tells me the server has a ping of 60 so I know the first message seems bogus.

When your’re getting the problem alot the suggested solution i posted should work, basically you’re trying to connect too fast to the server before the client recieved an “auth” ack from pb. When you request a new key from the auth server, and thus authing… everything should work again

gotta say though it id bloody annoying to have to keep deleting your etkey…not that it happens to me all the time but certainly enough to piss me off.

AFAIK /pb_cdkeyreg results in the same thing as deleting the cdkey file (it requests a new “CDKEY”), so doing one of the things should be enough.

I sometimes get this error when I connection problems or if I’m downloading stuff (probably packetloss), but reconnecting usually works for me.

I am getting this message every time I try to connect to any server. It’s ridiculous to keep deleting the etkey every single time I connect to a server. Does anyone know of a proper fix?

Or just wait for the error to go away.

I get the message alot, also. However, I’ve found out a way to help reduce the number of times it happens to me. I believe the problem lies when the auth server attempts to read my cdkey, and my hardware firewall prevents the auth server from getting through. So, I disconnect my dsl modem, wait 5 seconds, reconnect it, then type /pb_cdkeyreg in the consule, and if it returns something that says “Cdkey already exists”, or something similar to that phrase (can’t remember what it returns exactly), then I’m fine to connect w/o problems.

Make sure all firewalls are disabled before attempting to connect, drastically improves your chances of success.

erm, a properly functioning firewall either blocks traffic to a particular port/ip combo, or not. A far better solution is to tell your firewall to allow traffict to the auth servers.

I rather suspect the connecting/disconnecting exercise works because it creates a small delay. Quite likely, going and getting a cup of tea would have the same effect.
