I did search but couldnt find a solid answer.
How do you tweak the grenade shove on or off? It seems to be on in some servers and in others not…

Grenade jump help
I guess he means “granade jumps” (as stated in the caption). In ET these only work with friendly fire turned off. And a teammate has to throw a granade to make you fly. Your own greandes will just hurt/kill you. Additionally enemy grenades can make you fly (even with FF on), but you usually need a flakwest to survive.
You can jump on your own nades when friendly fire off. They’ll damage and move you.
Well ive seen people get shoved by their own nades, I know how to do it with someone else… But in I think it was Sick boys video his own nades gave him the shove?

I tried it when I made my own server… what I tried to do was start the map in dev then turn god on so I could nade/mine jump but the shove still wasnt there… I tried FF off and FF on…
Ah cheers sick… think I got it now… Is there a way to increase the shove power a little?
There is anti nade jumping code which makes your own explosives do only 1/4 the vertical boost that other players explosives do. Airstrike cans are the exception. See src/game/g_combat.c around line 1300
As stated, if friendly fire is ON, team damage does no knockback at all (which looks like a bug to me… Surely they meant to prevent people in FF off servers from boosting their team-mates all over the map ?)
Also g_combat.c around 1280:

and sick boy is correct, god mode drops out of the damage code before knockback is done.
Wasnt it Sick boys vid where he jumped using his own can without dieing? Or am I just blind…Yeah… it was… then he hit the roof and got splatted, I dont get it.

well it’s an impossible roof to get on (unless with stacking) but I really wanted to get on it 
I die of falldamage there, but I made it ! (it’s offcourse easier with a canjump from right under the roof

So the can damaged you? Everytime I try jump with one I get obliterated… Same with some nade jumps…But what I mean is, there was another movie I saw where at the end they jumped using their own cans and flew half way across the map but didnt die, so if /god was on how come the can shoved them?
That’s probably not jumping the can, but jumping the airstrike (I think you need a teammate’s airstrike for that and FF off)
Basically you can fly as far as you want without getting damage. It’s the difference in height between the highest point and the place you land that makes up the damage. But if you land on a mountain side where you can nicely slide down from, you’ll be OK 
The key in not getting obliterated by a can or nade is timing 
How long is best to prime a nade before attempting to run over it and get shoved? I usually do it for 4 clicks then drop and run, works most of the time…
couldnt you just edit it in console as ref? or failing that open up your servers settings file
Ummm, you have to change that on the server - so via rcon, server configs etc. Otherwise it’d be pretty easy to exploit ;).
The default is 1000. If you type the name of a cvar without a value, it’ll display the current value and the default.
