I was able to get ahold of Ryan (shrub developer) and told him about the latest ET patch. He replied and said he’d work on an update for shrubet this weekend, so hopefully we’ll have a compatible version soon.

i am running with the new patch mine SHRUB server and all is fine we get no problem 
other mods running on our servers with the new patch:ADMINMOD,PUB,TCETEST,FORTY 
only ET/PRO for the moment run the older patch

There have been a few problems with running shrub on 2.60, tested on 2 different servers. At the end of a campaign…the server just hangs and won’t load next map. Tried using both a custom campaign file and campaigncycle.cfg using the original 6 maps, same thing happened.

I run shrub and ET2.60 at games.student.uit.no, and for the moment it’s running flawlessly, except my refs are having problems kicking people.

i was truly hoping this patch would be the death knell for Scrub. oh well, i guess there will always be about 1/3 of ET servers that are utterly worthless and unplayable. sorta like there’s always a bad neighborhood in every town that you should avoid at all costs…

No, seriously, if a shrub server is set up well, it’s a good place to play for fun.
I.e. no double jump, stupid pushing strengths, although they can make you wet yourself when drunk and everyone round you gets pissed off but can’t see what’s going on because they’re half way across the map by the time they turn around. <- I have an excellent demo
Playdead can be good at times, although people can tell most of the time… but doing it with the flamer is funny, so much fun… not only do you scare the shit out of the opposing engie running oblivious at you when he sees a corpse jump to its feet and spray flames all over him, but you can almost see the shock on his face. <- Also need to be drunk to appreciate the full effect. Unfortunately it should be turned off for a decent shrub server as it is buggy and you can walk through walls with it.

You can set g_playdead to 2…that stops the playdead through walls thing. Makes you rotate 90 degrees when you get up…also temporarily freezes you for a second or two like a medic revive.

i manage shrub servers since 2 years now and we play that mod a lot
almost of us prefere play for fun and shrub is fun:
we play with XP reset,2 jump for some maps,and a lot of shrub’s settings and crazygravity sometimes with the adminmod
etpro is more for matches and practices but i like the et/pro sounds
but they are working on the new PUB mod who try to be the next Shrub mod: we will see…

I’m personally very pleased with the new patch, it addresses several problems (redirect crash fixed… YAY!!!) plus implements a bunch of etpro “fixes” (too bad etpro anti-cheat wasn’t one of them), but maybe this renewed interest will get Ryan to bug EvenBalance to implement a more progressive anti-cheat system.
(btw, I understand SD’s commitment to the punkbuster arrangement in place, and realize a different anti-cheat system could be a conflict)

Well, we’ve now just changed to ETPub, which is a continuance of shrub, advice everyone to look into it since shrub isn’t being developed anymore. see www.etpub.org
