good ID engine games to play tell Et:QW comes out

Hi,

What new good games are out the use ID engines. I have already played through Prey,Quake4, Doom 3 … any other games that are worth playing

Those three are the only released D3 engine games.

I think ETQW and the new Wolfenstein are the only two projects using it as well.

Since then they’ve also said that Nerve is doing the MP.

AFAIK it’s not known if the game will use a modified D3 engine or the even newer engine that is used for the coming id game.

AFAIK that the doom3 agine was anounced to be the last “big” engine jump and future ID engines would be continualy modified versions of the doom3 engine. Carmack said he worked out how to apply the mega texture technolgy to every world surface in the game so the entire game can be uniquley texture so will be interesting to see if it has that as a feature

Big or small, he does call it a new engine:

GI: After Enemy Territories: Quake Wars ships with the highly modified Doom 3 engine and the MegaTexture support, is it time for you guys to move on from that engine?

Carmack: Yes, the in-house development project that we’ve been working on is all new technology. It still has some roots in the Doom 3 technology, but almost everything is new in there.
