Good game getting rekt by cheaters :/

(fuchsiaWin) #1

You know I really love this game, so do many people but at this point it’s becoming more and more unplayable. I understand that in most MMO games there will eventually be one fuc*-tard here and there who will ruin the game for everybody. That said, in this example, every 5th game or so, one guy is aimboting heads 24/7, its really annoying…

I suggest VAC over whatever you are using now for anti-cheat.
Even if they manage to get through it they get banned after few days since players have manual option to report them when it’s obvious they are not playing legit, it gets the job done.

I also understand there are people who can simply play better but this people are plain obvious, for someone who has almost 300+ hours on “Insurgency” game, I can tell.

There are plenty of existing threads that this post could have belonged in.

Fuck it, comment editing is broken, I’m out.

He said “Every 5th game”, which is pretty much spot on what I noticed this weekend. Pretty easy to spot them if you join spectators. Prefiring while rounding corners, snapping direcly to head whenever someone gets in view, and best of all: after a kill, when they snap to target # 2 or 3 that suddenly appeared, they target their head no problem but stop firing because they didn’t expect that to happen.

That and on one or two choice occasions, they were actually spamming the chat with info where you could buy the cheats.

Sry I am new here, like where on example?

I could go on

I agree. It’s more like ever 3rd game I play has some CoD wanna be using the same headshot bot that hasn’t been patched yet. I’m about to start frapsing my own trailer for this game and call it Dirty Headshot. And much like the hackers say, ‘you can ban my account, but i’ll still do what i want.’ And you can’t stop them, or me from making that trailer.

(stealthyCaper) #8

Most of which threads are or will soon be locked because they named-and-shamed, and were posted to report single instances of cheating. I hope we can keep this thread free of naming, to discuss the general impact of cheating in a F2P game like this.

You need to chill, and keep grinding those hours of playtime.
The learning curve is kinda steep for this game, and the headshots have a high damage multiplier, but the cheater situation isn’t quite as bad as you seem to believe.

The difference between a fresh player and a player who has a 100, 200, or more hours clocked, is huge in this game, and if you stick with it, you’ll see it for yourself.

That said, there are definitely cheaters out there, and the anti cheat needs to be upgraded, so people can focus on playing, instead of witch hunting.

Every game has cheaters. That’s a fact. It hasn’t changed for decades and won’t for decades more unless we all let BIG BROTHER onto our PC’s which won’t happen. Saying a game is being “ruined” because you saw somebody aimbotting would ruin every single FPS that has ever existed pretty quickly for you.

You can’t have perfect anti-cheat without mentioned BIG BROTHER. And even then it would only reduce significantly instead of eliminate. So calm down about it. Get some recording software. Nvidia ShadowPlay is quite easy to use if you have a somewhat recent Nvidia card. OBS is a free alternative. You can go to spec, record the cheater for a minute, upload it to YT (you don’t even need to edit or convert the footage) and then submit the link to Nexon support with the persons name. They will ban them within a day or two. I’ve already done this 4 times myself.

And what’s funny is I’ve only ran into these 4 people over weeks of games which probably numbers nearly a hundred games. That’s not too awful of a percentage.

Of course you could be one of those people who just want to call everyone who is actually good at the game a cheater. There are those types too.

(stealthyCaper) #11

Oh, look, a cheater apologist, I wonder what his agenda is ?

Ah, that seems to explain…

The forums seem to be getting a rash of players that are doing nothing more than advertising cheats for the game without actually contributing anything beyond that.

I don’t believe I have ever read the term ‘cheater apologist’ before, but I like how you are saying that about a helpful and active member of the forums.

Why did you completely ignore the rest of my post and take it completely out of context? I also have no clue what your second sentence even means or is alluding to.

Please remember that attacking others for their opinion isn’t something that needs to happen. Disagree, debate, etc but let’s not make it personal. Thanks

This is a topic where naturally people will feel very strongly about their viewpoints. Remember, it is all in how you say it.

There will of course be hackers but it is disproportionate to think that an extreme surveillance-like program would be needed to fully combat hackers. We should not have to go to such lengths to pinpoint the hackers in order to have them removed from the game. I, for one, will not be spending any significant resources to do the policing of the game for the developers; it is THEIR responsibility. That is not to say that we cannot do our part in helping to curb what breached the filter.

What they can do for us to aid them is to add in a replay tool that allows us to trim it to the points where the offences were committed. They give us the means, we can lend a hand when able.

I want this game to be a worthy successor to Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, a game which I respect to this very day for the scale I could not remember since Battlefield 2142 Titan mode. There was only one extremely obvious hacker I ran into and he was even advertising the website where he acquired his hacks. It stings more because it seems that they are mocking the developers on just how trivial it is to cheat in the game for them. People have already raised concerns with the game’s handling because of Nexon’s association and the hackers are more than delighted to further destroy the game’s legitimacy.

The sentiment I am hearing is correct, they need to seriously improve their efforts against the hackers.

If you truly believe that then you do not understand what goes into making AC software and what goes into making the hacks that can circumvent such software. The only truly successful AC software that has been made in the last couple of decades were both VERY invasive to your PC. The reasoning is because the cheats that are being used can go around much less invasive programs.

Can the response time of the AC software be improved? Yes. But even that can be problematic (google why VAC bans in waves rather than immediately). The only other thing that SD can do is use their ECHO software to pinpoint players who are reaching scores too quickly at lower levels and then compare it to typical known good player scores on average and then put a flag on their account to be watched or just auto-ban. Then you might end up with false positives and other issues.

Also, rose-tinted glasses. I didn’t play Quake Wars but I did play ET. There were tons of aimbotters in that game too. PB had more tools to use for both server admins and they updated more frequently than XGINcode. And that’s another problem. If these pubs had proper admins on them they could instantly ban the player. We don’t have that control.

So yeah, you’re right in things could be better. But you have to understand the reality of how things work as not to get all upset when you see an aimbotter and declare the game as “ruined” like so many people tend to do.

(Ardez1) #17

One of the most effective Anti-Cheat systems is a moderator who can spectate a suspected hacker. Release independent dedicated server capability and you will see a stronger admin presence on those servers by the players.

(DadoPeja) #18

People wouldn’t post so much about hackers if there are not so many - they really startin showing out expecialy with this event !

(mOist) #19

Saddest thing is theres becoming an increased amount of false accusations almost everygame theres someone calling someone a hacker , i’ve been called one myself twice today and i wouldnt class myself as anything more than slightly above average.

(Szakalot) #20

your better than you think!

some cheat accusations can get pretty ridiculous. From the classy ‘according to killcam i got shot thru a wall!’ to my favorite 'this guy is hacking, he was shooting at me and i didnt receive the ‘getting hit feedback’ ’
