Goldrush map: mortar coming from nowhere?

(ARES) #1

Its very frustrating. I can’t find where the Axis mortar guy hides at goldrush map. I walked everywhere to find him.

The mortars coming, but I can’t find the Axis mortar guy on this map.

Is it a cheat? A bug? Or a trick? Is there some secret place for him on that map?

I even joined Axis team in order to be a spectator and to find him. But the zapping didn’t show any mortar guy. But the mortars nevertheless came down.

I cannot understand that. Please help me someone.

That’s the infamous Mortar Operator From Hell U Can’t Reach (MOFHUCR). Calling him by name usually brings him out in the open.

May I suggest using a different exit from spawn?

(ARES) #12

Okay, some answers have been funny.

But now please tell me seriously where the mortar guy hides.

Please.

well considering the range of the mortar, that is like saying “where is the sniper on the fuel depot map?”

you can hammer the allied spawn from several locations on that map, your best bet is to watch and see where the “smoke trail” that follows the mortar as it falls comes from.

go in that direction and you will find him.

The thing you have to keep in mind is that mortar can stretch from one entire end of the map to the other, so don’t just look on the other side of a wall when you see a mortar come over it.

Not to mention, a good mortar user can and will move around to different locations.

Also, if he does not have a field ops feeding him ammo, he will get up to raid ammo racks now and then so you may have walked right past his nest and not even known it.

Axis mortar guy???
Man, I would (and have) had trouble finding an allied mortar…but on that map finding axis mortars is easy as …er…baking a cake!

There is only 2 safe and possible location for him - The courtyard and allied first spawn area.

If courtyard then either behind the bushes, or near the inside of the second exit of axis second spawn area…OR behind the bank. Not rocket science (though I admit he would be hard to take out)

If allied first spawn… just search around. Guaranteed you will hear that devilish “whuuuu-ummp” noise of his when searching these places.

 hey if you still can’t find the guy shooting mortars, then maybe it’s because the guy is not a soldier but a FIELD OPS, who can use binoculars as a weapon. if they are looking at a target (like a spawnexit) and use the FIRE button and then they get the message “FIRING FOR EFFECT”. this means that they get mortar support from the game and not from the game-players. I hope this answer sattisfies you

This seems to be the solution. I try it. Thank you!

There is a small courtyard behind the bank that I use. The mortar just barely clears the roof but it will land at the top of the first street the tank goes through. Almost every allied soldier takes that route to the courtyard and it’s just close enough to the spawn that everyone is very grouped up. Two mortar shots and you can take out 5 or more people every spawn.

In the right situation, mortars can make life hell.

(ARES) #18

You are so mean.

(T2kickass) #19

Once I saw an Axis mortar hiding at the back courtyard MG nest.

Hell for my team… :disgust:

(whoopie) #20

Yes thats true I love hidding in the bushes also
At the beggining I like mortaring from allies spawn to the area where axis hovers around the tank. When you start diminishing axis lives (on a limited lives server) they begin to run around more and it makes it easier for the engineer to repair the tank.
