When Im playing engineer with a garand (or K-43) if I fire a rifle nade while being shot and die… it doesnt explode… The grenade was definitely shot off… why?

hmm most likly a bug that it just never went off or it may have been what I’ve been having although this may be part of my config not to show explotions?? i dont know but now panzer shots and grenades arnt making the big burst effect all that happens is that there is a black spot on the ground where it would have gone off
Definitely more than a simple graphics glitch…because if it was just graphics …I would get xp and a “you killed xxxxx” message. Which I dont
Its sad because its at least 15-20% of my potential kills.
I wonder if it’s a bug, or it’s like that by design. It prevents suicide attacks? Maybe it has to do with network code. That projectile/bullet is linked to you, and when you die, it dies. I’ve seen this in many multiplayer games. The panzer in Wolf is like that I believe.
Don’t know about the panzer, but grenades definitely go off after you’ve died. TK’d enough medics to be sure about that :rolleyes:.
i couldn’t replicate this bug/“feature”, by doing a /kill right after firing the rifle nade.
you should make a demo of the bug, and post it here.
Weapon animations are predicted on the client (as soon as you press the fire button, the client plays the fire animation/sounds without waiting for the server to tell you that you fired). You can see this when you have CI, if you hold the trigger down, you get the firing animation (often very rapid) but your ammo doesn’t go down. So you can see the animation happen even though you are already dead on the server. In that case, whatever action you thought you did doesn’t really happen. I see this fairly often with airstrikes, and occasionally with PF and grenades. Don’t play rifle nade enought to have really noticed it.
If you do actually get the shot off on the server, than it shouldn’t disappear just because you died, and in most cases it does not seem to.

I believe projectiles are different from bullets. Regardless, the panzer can most certainly kill people after you’ve died, since I’ve quite often been killed by a panzer after I’ve shot the person who fired it
I’ve even very occasionally managed to shoot and kill people after they’ve shot and killed me, although how that works I am not sure!
Sometimes if I’m sitting in spec and watching a mortar landing zone (all kinds of laughs when you know what’s about to happen) I see a distinct “dud round.” There will be an enemy running by (definately not a covert with ff off or freshly-healed-invulnerable) and the round comes in and drops right through the ground without an explosion. It’s not too often, but I’ve seen it more than twice now… I doubt the 0342 died, because I saw a good round come in shortly after.
Could be a bug, but think of it as the effect of a 97% positive rate of the standard issue rifle grenade or mortar round… Sometimes the darn thing just won’t work right… stupid fuses…
RTCW and ET explsion ‘physics’ are pretty wacky. Things that don’t seem like they should save you do, and vice versa.
They definitely explode after death. Often, two people will kill each other with two rifle-nade shots (, and often, one of them is me). If the shot was cancelled at death, only one would be killed, right?
