GL Extentions

(Weaver24) #1

For those of you that dont know, GL extentions make that thing that looks like a thin sheet of fog in front of you. In the orginal RTCW, there were GL extentions but it was hardly noticable when it was on. In this game, when GL extenstions are on, and not exactly eye candy. GL extentions helps out FPS, so I really hesitate to turn it off. Is there a reason for this sudden change in these GL extentions?

gl extenstions just lets the game use ANY opengl extensions. Not all of them have to do with fog, and the effects are likely to be system specfic. There are also cvars to control the specific extentions. I’d suggest playing with those instead of just turning them all off. On most mordern cards, disabling all gl extenstions is likely to hurt performance. The gl extension related cvars look like this

r_ext_texture_env_add "1"
r_nv_fogdist_mode "GL_EYE_RADIAL_NV"
