Giving up Dirty Bomb because of cheaters

(bluebonnetAardvark) #1

In the last month or so, I’ve seen an explosion in the number of players using aimbots, wallhacks, self-revive hacks etc. Every online FPS has it’s fair share of cheaters, but this has gone beyond a joke.

I joined a server tonight, and 2 of the players were obviously aimbotting. I tried to spectate them, but lo and behold, their cheats prevented me from even spectating them.

It’s a crying shame. I loved Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, and I genuinely thought that Splash Damage were going to do the community proud with Dirty Bomb. Unfortunately, Nexon anti-cheat has less value than a £4 note.

Without dedicated servers, this game is doomed. We need server admins, unique ID’s, and the ability to ban by individual I.P. addresses / subnets.

P.S. I am aware that this post is on Nexon.net and will most likely be deleted. I don’t care; I’m just voicing my opinion.

Ironically I have only seen a cheater twice in my entire time playing DB…

Haven’t seen any aimbotters in months.

We had some cheaters months ago. Then it was quiet. But the new MM season exploded like an old poop and all the flies with cheats came to the game again to show off MM-balls.
After getting 2 aimbotters in 2 MM games a row I said I won’t play this crap till an update rolls in and cheats are patched for half a day.

New cheats were ready to go for the new season and also throw-away accounts were leveled up just for this. NGS will hopefully get caught up soon and all of those throw-away accounts will get banned pretty quick. And since it takes ~40 hours to level up to 7 things should hopefully get better soon.

ive seen literally one cheating person since awhile, and that was some russian on the dockyard test weekend

40 hours? More like 10

I spotted a cheater today…steam account having only 2 f2p games, out of which one was DB…but this was really the first time I’ve seen a hacker in months.

Pretty sure @Szakalot leveled up an alt account and said it took him around 40 hours. Maybe I am not remembering correctly and that was how long it took to get to level 10. Could you clarify @Szakalot if you don’t mind?

And still, 10 hours is a lot to put into an account that will be banned quickly. So things will taper off quite a bit soon. At last it’s not level 5 like it was before.

40 hrs to lvl 7? Whut? I levelled my second accout to 7 in maybe 5 hrs some months ago.

I must have mis-read a post awhile back then. I’ve never made an alt account so I don’t have firsthand information on how long it takes.

Just use the report function, or call me if you think you see one and I’ll gladly tell you if it’s legit or if you’re just overreacting.

I get accused of hacking a few times a day, I usually don’t even respond anymore.

You are aware, that there is a bug where any medic can revive himself? Likely it can also be purposely exploited.

@ those who said they didnt see hackers in months (like I did too), go play ranked. The scum is back, in force.

Yes, a Sawbonez can fall on his own paddles. It’s too hard to do consistently, or you would see it in higher level play being exploited like the PDP and Grandeur.

and if you tinker with code, you can reproduce it in the engine and spoof it to the server. No real ingame input needed. Hacking, you know.

Last week I came across 3 hackers in about a time span of 3 days. That was the first time I’ve seen hackers since I first started in June. I frankly am not bothered by it though. Just leave the match and find another. I leave A LOT of matches before I find ones worth staying in any how.

Haven’t seen any hackers in around 20 ranked games (EU region if that makes any difference). Only hordes of level 7s with the critical thinking and motor skills of a toddler.
