Giving up Dirty Bomb because of cheaters

@ those who said they didnt see hackers in months (like I did too), go play ranked. The scum is back, in force.
Haven’t seen any hackers in around 20 ranked games (EU region if that makes any difference). Only hordes of level 7s with the critical thinking and motor skills of a toddler.
Lucky you. All the level 7s I came across who were not obviously aimbotting had skills of all Asian MLGs combined and mixed with ragnak and his 10 clones.

Maybe we should increase the level that requires to play a ranked match. This could make those cheaters need to waste more time but also make sure newbies won’t ruin a ranked game.

(HunterAssassin5) #23

They bother to put up min rank 10 pub servers but don’t wall off ranked behind min 10-15 restrictions?

(SiegeFace) #24

Got some footage of a sparks player 1 shotting people with a tolen in a pub game from last week. They kicked him then continued to whine about balance since we shrekt them after that, and kept saying how they should of kept the hacker… imo that mentality is worse than hackers.

(Naralin) #25

The problem is they are setting up a low level cap to encourage more people to play ranked to grow the MM playerbase. More players = less queue.
In practice this is hell. Since you are a duo at best, there isn’t much communication thus they don’t learn anything about teamplay & objectives. On top of that half of the games end up having leavers.

They should consider renaming it to “Ranked pubs”.

40 hours? More like 10
Pretty sure @Szakalot leveled up an alt account and said it took him around 40 hours. Maybe I am not remembering correctly and that was how long it took to get to level 10. Could you clarify @Szakalot if you don’t mind?

And still, 10 hours is a lot to put into an account that will be banned quickly. So things will taper off quite a bit soon. At last it’s not level 5 like it was before.
~2hours max

@fubar u and lightning last season :stuck_out_tongue:

(_LOST_eXpat) #28

dedicated servers would be great, id defo rent my own

(Torch189) #29

@bluebonnetAardvark If that is a really the reason why would you give up on this awesome game, u should think twice. Btw, good luck finding other games that have none “cheaters”.

I could give this gotta-go-fast-2-lvl7 myth ago tonite and record process. Will post about it if I do. Anyone has a starter pack for science purposes? :> semi-kidding

(Icecoal) #31

In 220hrs I saw maybe 9hackers or something ? But then again , I don’t play ranked

(HunterAssassin5) #32

I played 3 rounds of ranked and far as I can tell there were no hackers on either team. Maybe it’s just luck?

(gg2ez) #33

This is literally the worst reason to quit playing. Good luck finding an Online FPS without cheaters.

(FUNNYBLACKMAN) #34

Bad luck, but if you’re gonna be a baby then have fun trying to find a cheater-less game out there.

(Occult) #35

ive got 500-ish hrs in db and i can count the number of hackers ive run into on only three fingers, but then again i only pub

(Ardez1) #36

Moved this to off topic. User has only ever made 1 post and it was an ‘I’m Quitting’ thread.

If you actually cared about the game you might have had a forum account before yesterday :stuck_out_tongue: Either that or this thread would be on the SD developer forums. While I have nothing against SOME of what you said opening with I’m quitting isn’t very constructive. Dozens of threads have detailed out your suggestion in much better depth without a cry for attention.

About 400 hrs in the game, only encountered one cheater using some one shot kill cheat, used the empire 9 with it. Was hilarious to watch in spectate and eat popcorn at the same time.

Sorry, my O.P. was very negatory. It involved many beers and a tantrum.

Many, many years ago, I would spends hours every single day playing first person shooters, starting way back in the late 90’s with Quakeworld, then moving onto W:ET. I absolutely love the FPS genre.

I can only spare a few hours a week to play these games now due to work and lifestyle, so I like short games without too much commitment, so in Dirty Bomb I’ve been playing quick games in objective mode. In CS:GO, I play deathmatch or arms race etc.

I have been involved in the anti-cheat community for a very long time; reviewing demo’s and screenshots. I can spot a hack a mile off. I shouldn’t have dissed Nexon anti-cheat solution in particular; any anti-cheat is only as good as the CVAR and MD5 checks that the community provides.

I did note that a couple of people said that I might have got a self-revive hack confused with a medic class player. Absolutely not… The most noticeable increase in self-revive hackers appeared when Fletcher was last in free rotation. I did also see a number of red-eye players using self-revive hacks for some strange reason.

Yes I know… people don’t buy solitary aimbots, or wall-hacks, or self-revive hacks; multihacks are the norm. Cheaters just enable what they need, and usually in a subtle way, so that it doesn’t attract attention.

I genuinely hope that dedicated server files for D.B. will be made available in the future. I will keep D.B. installed, and watch for updates

Peace, chill, etc.

@bluebonnetAardvark I still feel like it was just an enemy Sparks who was revive them from range… lol
