afaik only people with an existing account will receive him. A new account created after the patch would not. Although I don’t know the actual conditions of the giveaway. @MissMurder would be the best person to answer that. I will try and confirm with her.

Every single player that logs in during that time will receive one of the hardest to kill medics out there, Phoenix. He’s an expert at healing everyone around him while under heavy fire with his Healing Pulse ability, and he can even revive himself when incapacitated, helping your team keep the pressure on.

Its a good incentive to unlock the merc. I did as I love the founder cards ;). And who knows we might be able to trade those cards one day.

More people playing medics might be a good thing, I can finally switch to Nader without feeling guilty. Bonus is the obsidian card, I’ll get something worth using since I got Vaseline out of the beta case >.>

In this particular case, Phoenix is not a bad merc to give away. But it could have easily backfired. Imagine them giving away, Rhino, Nader or Bushwhacker. It would put spammy mercs in the hand of everyone. Luckily for us Phoenix is not a problem in large numbers. Seriously though, if they would be giving away any of the others, people wouldn’t have felt so happy about it. I can tell you that. I’d rather have limited amount of keys give-away’s

Question regarding the obsidian Phoenix card: is it the specific loadout card shown, a random one, or our choice? The one pictured isn’t exactly bad but I prefer the Crotzni over Hochfir on Phoenix.

I literally bought Phoenix after hearing about the obsidian card with the credits i have been hoarding after being hooked on this game for the last 3 weeks, still have enough for this stoker fellow once he gets released and one more.

But on topic, I feel as though phoenix released as a free merc as a good thing, for those who do not play often or do not want to spend money/grind for credits (although I think it is not really a grind since i earned 30k in the last 3-4 days just playing the game and doing missions and what have you) gives them another merc as a tactical choice other than aura or w.e medic happens to be on free rotation (if any).

Certianly makes it more challenging when you are on defense, if the offense has the mind to use him that is.

Ive been meaning to throw dirtybomb some money. I like the game, and as such the devs earned my support. The only issue is, nothing in the game looked like it was worth acutally spending said money on. I dont give a shit about cosmetics, and I already have all the mercs i’ll ever use with the exception of maybe Stoker. So…what else is there?

This little event gave me a reason. Rare obsidian card. I dont even want the guy honestly, I by far perfer Sparx. I figured “Ah what the hell, this is as close to a reason to spend money i’ll ever have.”

I consider the game worth it, in fact its worth more than $10 to be honest. But so little of the game content by itself is worth the asking price IMO. $10 per merc is nuts considering the inudustry standard is 60 USD for a game, and theres well over 10 mercs, not including loadout cards.

So, in short, they bribed me into paying money with rare goodies. shrug
Its about as much as I’ve spent on League for myself, for the exact same reasons.

My Rhino was a free code when MissMurder was giving out codes a while back. :stuck_out_tongue:
