Hello
I have tried, but I do not know where I am wrong…
is that possible to use those files with ETPub 0.9.1 ?
How can I use those files with ETPub ???
Thanks
I guess by renaming the ZIP to PK3 and putting it in etmain?
Edit:
If you want the clients to download it put it in etpub folder
thank for your answer, but it do not seem to do the trick… was it for ETPro only ??
Please have another one tried and have any other idea ?
It was, but now almost all mods support it… The mapname_loc.dat files just have to be in a maps folder inside a PK3 to work
NQ include some of them in the default package for instance and it works, works as well with S!lenT, and should be fine as well for ETPub.
Antmans readme.doc simply says you have to extract the file into etpro, so maybe try axtracting them into etpub?
Thank for answers
that is why I have posted here
I have put .pk3 etmain & in mod folder (etpub), on server side and client side. I have try the both to see if one work.
I have tested with many maps and I see only (x,x) no area names for the listed map in the .pk3…
and I have try also with some compatible mod based on etpub that are most of time working the same way and same result
It should be a mod custom because I see no similar files in pak0.pk3… should be only managed by mods.
Was that feature only on some mods ?
Sure I can be wrong somewhere, in that case I do not know where because as I have said, I have put the .pk3 in etmain & etpub folder : I got the same result : no display of area name
please was someone here using that with etpub ?
Do you have Fireteam locations on Names in your options (Client side), and not only coordinates?
was it that command ?
seta cg_locations “1”
Because seems enabled if it was the good one… and I get no name only (x,x)
Seems it is the right one, Googled it and found the S!ilenT related thread:
I guess in ETPub it’s the same cvar, ETPro should have same… And going in settings should set it to 1 as well.
In ETPro:
seta b_locationMaxChars “25”
seta b_locationMode “1”
Then reading your profile CFG and finding the one will make it
Or through ingame menu, again.
I have try all those settings including in server.cfg and with a forcecvar… it do not display in the chat or in the FireTeam : I have only (x,x).
Perhaps not possible on that MOD ETpub ? Can be that because nobody have said : “hey I use it work”…
Perhaps also : could the function have been disabled ? other way lost or forgotten in the new mods ?
Perhaps no solution
thanks
Which version of ETPub? I will download it and put it in my test folder to see it, maybe you have a “old” version or it has never been implemented, which would be very surprising… So please post a link
Edit:
Names are displayed in etpubc 2010something’s fireteam.
Thank you for your proposition to check where i can be wrong.
I use ETPub 0.9.1… it should do the trick
I can be wrong in my settings but I do not know where
I installed it and I had the names in fireteam without touching anything… You’re sure you test a map which has a location file? o.o
Got cg_locations on 1, default 1.
Thank you for your test I will search again from where come my problem
But, Please can you give me a confirmation :
Thank you for your kind help
So re-dl the package, renamed it from .zip to .pk3, put it in etpub folder:

Here tested on a custom map, because ETPub includes by default the core maps location files. That’s weird it doesn’t work for you if you have right files, right installed and the right cvar enabled _
Could be stupid, but check if you type /cg_locations in console, it returns 1? Since you did so with seta it should be on 1, but who knows
Even if there were a reset, the default value is 1… ><
You be right thank you for your help
I have got some difficulties because should be in the both sides (client and server), and I have seen no .dat files inside pak0.pk3 ; sure it was a MOD custom. I will explain more what you said, for some other newbies like me.
In fact, .dat files should be stored inside a .pk3 installed in the MOD folder
There is no other way : the .dat files should be to the both sides : in client and in the server side. It is why all the .dat files should be in a .pk3 to permit the download by client.
Example : adlernest_2_loc_override.dat must be in a folder /maps
The folder should be compressed inside a .pk3, and .pk3 should be put in the MOD folder.
Sure as you said, admin can use the complete all_locations.pk3 (all_locations.zip file renamed) placed in the MOD folder (example etpub folder). Rest to see if could be better to limit the amount of files by removing the unused .dat files to optimise the server performance.
Thank you very much to all for your kind help
