Get SMART With New Brink Video

(tokamak) #21

Come on, it’s still less than two whole weeks. You can’t expect them to start an advertisement campaign this far in advance.

(amazinglarry) #22

Well hopefully then you told them about it… right?

(Whydmer) #23

Edumacate me! I am ready to get me some Smarts!

(Linsolv) #24

No, no, it’s exactly 2 weeks. DUH. Jeez, Tokamak. Your sarcastic comment has been dismissed due to a minor technicality!

Those may just be boxes…

…also I want to know when was the Gold day…

(Seyu) #26

I donno, maybe Bethesda’s confident of the game’s success from the amount of pre-orders or something. Crysis 2 and Homefront really went ballistic around this time before their launch.

Edit: Heck, look at the stuff CDProjekt’s doing to promote The Witcher 2, they’ll even have models dressed as the main characters do a photo shoot for Playboy.

(Mustkunstn1k) #27

Crysis wasn’t a new ip though and Homefront reminded people of Modern Warfare (2)…
But who knows…

(Linsolv) #28

I’ve met a lot of people who are interested in Brink, and many of those who aren’t had heard about it but didn’t have the word of mouth machine working around them like they did for Homefront or Bulletstorm or BF3 (though I tried to rectify that).

(Ragoo) #29

Those mines >:= (

I hope they don’t do too much damage or I will rage very much.

(Jess Alon) #30

I really liked the presentation on this video. It was super clean and well put together.

(Linsolv) #31

^ Yeah. This video got me excited, even after I realized there wasn’t going to be anything we didn’t know in it, just because it looks SO nice!

When I played medic it topped the people on my team off and gave them the health pip in one use, you didn’t have to heal then buff burning two pips on one person. It is all one interaction, the single power pip either gets used for a heal + buff or just the buff. When you heal someone in battle they always come away with full health and a bonus health bar regardless of if they had 20% health or a full bar when you held down the button to heal them.

It is just a better use of powers (in a value/effect sense) to use them on people who need the heal as well as the buff due to that. The only time I really buffed people that had full health was right on a spawn wave and the run back when I had a full power bar and had time to get some power back before the higher priority of heals and revives were needed in the fighting.

Real nice video, every one gets me more and more excited for the game.

Also let out a chuckle at the Brink logo hiding the button. Don’t look it’s rude!

Challenges look to be a master stroke. I’ve been critical of the whole XP stuff but putting those challenges outside the main game and linking a lot of crack should both teach gamers important core aspects and also prevent the main game getting fudged over for some clown with a gun fetish. NICE!

Yeah, I was confused at the button too… But I figured they made it so this video wouldn’t confuse people who own the game on different platforms and who also have a custom layout.

Can’t wait until this video gets to videogame sites, people need to see this. :stuck_out_tongue:

(tokamak) #35

That means that the real fans of the game don’t pre-order it so that the lower amount of preorders get compensated by a bigger marketing campaign which ends up with a bigger success.

I don’t think it works that way. More preorders justify taking a bigger risk with a bigger campaign. Frankly I don’t get it. Bethesda simply shows poor effort in advertisement. We see some ads here and there but a Fallout game would have the weirdest things plastered all over sites like Youtube and all. That little cartoon guy would pop up on the most improbable locations.

A knock down might be their biggest effect.

There are so many opportunities for engineers to make points as well as be helpful. That’s my class for sure!

(kilL_888) #37

looks really smooth, just like the other videos released lately. i hope it will be exactly like it when i play it online.

yea. im starting to get a bit excited now.

(Protector) #38

Possible PC footage?? I see no X’s only that Ark Logo.

(Mustkunstn1k) #39

We can’t know for sure. They are just hiding the button. It would make sense to pre-record gameplay on the PC, but yeah, who knows.

(CapnHowdy21) #40

The theory is that this video is supposed to be a tutorial for multiple systems, so they didn’t want xbox/ps3 specific controls.

Judging by the way the cursor is rotating on the objectives menu, it does appear to be using a controller though. She also talks about hitting up on the d-pad so I assume its console footage.
