Get SMART Series: The Battlefield [Episode 6]

And now we know that Operatives always sees mines, even when they’re not close, this alongside with the ability to detonate them by shooting them makes mines somewhat useless in my eyes, once again… Maybe that’s just me

Anyways… Thanks for the videos, Splash Damage! Appreciate it :)
If an operative is in disguise and spots the mine he gets XP. If he shoots the mine he loses his disguise. ALSO if the engineer disarms the mine he gets more XP then there’s no explosion to alert the enemy that the mine is gone.

This is the correct answer.

I think the original question was about the extra transparent box right next to the black box with the number in it… Im guessing it’s just for aesthetic appeal.

Maybe fire team indicator?

As in the classes the people you are grouped with are using?

(Mustang) #45

I’m sorry but did you look at the image I posted?
It makes no sense to display the same number twice, in two different boxes, next to each other

It’s supposed to let you know who’s out down and or out and in the process of respawning. A dev would be able to give the concrete answer. Either the box is blank if everyone’s up and it displays who is down or it’s the opposite and it displays the number of who is up like a fraction

(irvine05) #47
Anyone know what this is for?
It shows how many people on your team ,On/Offline, are using that class say ther was a 2 above the bullets tht means there is 2 people on your team using the soldier class

(master[mind]) #48

There should be people who go as Engineer in a round with only Command Post buff skills. That would be their only goal.
It’s a good thing the Operative can do so much damage to enemy mines. Since the mines are invisible, an enemy Light Engineer could basically scatter-bomb the entire playing field making team movement a nightmare. The Operative can prevent this from happening.

(dazman76) #49

As has been stated several times now, they are asking about the box to the LEFT of the one you’re talking about  The currently glowing and empty one, with the giant arrow pointing towards it - not the one containing the number

"The sixth and final part of our Get SMART series of Brink " This is sad, waiting for new brink videos and working were big parts that kept my mind occupied and away from feeling stupid after wrecking my car over the weekend, for which I’m going to have to buy a new engine. Now there’s only work left. :frowning:

(tokamak) #52

I think the mission wheel renders fire teams obsolete.

(dazman76) #53

They could still be a useful tool if you fancy helping out some new players I guess?

Link

If you look at that video, the box actually says change to medic or whatever class. I wonder why thats not present in the tutorial.

Here is a bad image showing it as well.

If you also notice, in that video, the timers state what they are for with text. In the tutorial videos, the upper right timer has no text, just the timer. I wonder if they didn’t use the fonts to be platform agnostic?

Nice, thanks Cpt. Howdy

Okay, yeah… That is just weird as hell, but the tutorial videos were made some time ago, no? This might aswell be alot of old stuff with some mixes of new

To derail the current topic about the 2nd mystery box…

I am liking the mine system they went with. Invisible mines make them more tactical and makes it imperative to have a few operatives running around. Once the mine is tagged, its almost advantageous to keep the mine up. I think it was stated that Engineers can only have a set number of mines up on the battlefield at a time (increased with ability purchase ??), so having spotted one and having the team avoid it rather then disarm/blowing it up leaves him short one mine on the battle field. I realize that the mine can be replanted/over ridden, but if the engineer that dropped it doesn’t realized his mine has be made, he will be less likely to lay down a new one.

Another thing I was thinking about was obvious mine plant in conjunction with a friendly soldier’s satchel charge. Depending on how large the satchel is, you could plant one close to or underneath (if the mine and satchel don’t take up actual physical terrain). You could set up a trap for a enemy engineer that wants to disarm said mine. You could also do this type of trap by setting up a mine close to a flat surface (like a wall or over hang ect ect) and detonate the charge (depending on AOE range of the charge and if you need FF to be on to set off your own teams mines).

Anyways, just some things that have been rolling around in my braincage.

Edit:

Booo, sorry to hear that buddy. Hope no one got hurt! Ya it sucked to see that this was going to be the last Get Smart vid. Maybe they will start back up with the Facebook 1 ability a day revel. That’s of course if it isn’t a weekend or there is a wedding…which leaves 2 days. Blast!

Man…operatives are basically built to piss off engineers.

I noticed all of this earlier aswell if you watch the smart series when their using abilities theres
no writing explaining what it is you are using your Xp on.

I think SD are removing some things for spoiler purposes
