General Discussion spam levels

(Wils) #1

There seems to have been a glut of posts (and whole threads) lately which seem to have been made for the sole purpose of increasing their authors post count.

Please bear in mind that I absolutely derive significant satisfaction from banning people from our forums in a most fascist manner. It’s really amusing and entertains me immensely. I relish the chance to practice it at every opportunity.

Sorry, I mean that I’d rather not remove anyone from the forum, and if some of you could put a bit more effort into your missives, it would be most appreciated. You know who you are (and if you don’t, I’m quite happy to let you know, trust me :D).

Thanks

Was it me?

:moo:

(Wils) #3

It is now :bash:

(Sauron|EFG) #4

Speaking or forum usage, is advertising allowed?

(Wils) #5

We don’t specifically disallow it…

(fattakin) #6

Probably best just to lock the posts immediately and they will sink into oblivion…
Maybe an off topic forum? Or redirect peeps to e-t.com/rtcw/planet wolfy forums for spamage there

(chr0nicles) #7

I’ll bet Wils is spamming the SD development tree/sources with comments turning into huge monologue’s :moo:

BTW: We want some RTCW2 information :stuck_out_tongue:

(puubert) #8

Maybe an off topic forum?

That’s not a bad idea. A Gaming Forum and a General Jerk Around Forum for everything else perhaps? It’ll let people decide themselves how deep they wanna get in.

(EvilBaga) #9

Was it me?

It is now

ADMIN FIGHT! ADMIN FIGHT!

(eRRoLfLyNN) #10

Can we spam this, just for the irony value of it? :stuck_out_tongue:

(Bongoboy) #11

Wils is wearing the Cape O’Death today, I wouldn’t tempt him.

(eRRoLfLyNN) #12

No name-calling and poking and laughing at Wils then, like what they do to me at my place of work?

cowers

Funny how things work in parallels though - on the one hand you have the ‘Summer Holiday Spam Bonanza’ here on SDs forum, whilst at the same time there’s genuine determination to get some custom maps accepted with threads on here to do just that.

Must be the work of discordians - FNORD!!! :open_mouth:

More likely the Sub-Geniuses

I’m Bob and I approve this message.

I think it would be helpful to define what’s spam and what’s not.

My definition:
I think that threads that are not related to the forum headlines or posts that are not related to the thread headlines are spam.

In my eyes these forums should be used to develop the community.
I think spam is counter productive.
It’s some kind of waste of time and space.

But I also think it’s difficult to decide which of the threads/posts of the general discussion forum are spam and which are not.
That’s the only forum where the main theme has no hard borders.
(Actually the RTCW forum hasn’t got hard borders too.)

May be it’s a good behaviour to ask yourself before posting:
“Has the thread in my mind something to do with the forum headline?”
(for the general discussion forum that would be: Has it something to do with ET or the MP maps of SD)
“Has the post in my mind something to do with the thread headline?”

Everyone should descipline him-/herself to stay on topic.
I’m not “spamfree” myself.
But I try to post forum/thread related things.

(Sauron|EFG) #16

This post is both spam and on topic. :stuck_out_tongue:

(evilsock) #17

I think this may clear things up somewhat…
