Genders in Brink

(felismenari) #41

Voice work would have to be done as well. There’s a lot of additional work that would have to be done to bring playable females to Brink, and I just don’t see it happening. As someone mentioned previously, the only way it would become available for the game is as payed DLC (that’s way too much time, effort, and money to sink into free content) and I doubt that would prove to be very lucrative.

(Lydia) #42

I doubt that would prove unlucrative ;D
I say at least half of all those haters would purchase it just for the sake of it , or just because they actually wanted it

That depends on how large the female Brink community is. Perhaps if SD took a poll to figure out the number of female fans they have we might see them take action on it.

(Lydia) #44

I´d be one of ´em
But in the end , we´ll see what´s going to happen
I personally hope for a girls DLC :>

(stealth6) #45

Or maybe they have done multiple times.
No wait this MUST be the FIRST thread on genders in Brink… obviously.

Not everyone peruses the forums frequently.

(Super-Pangolin) #47

Tbh it was a selling point to me, I probably wouldn’t have been so stoked that I would’ve pre-ordered if it wasn’t.

I guess it just appeals to some and not to others, I think it was one of the developers who said something like how it’s human nature to seek out independence and makes things our own, make them feel comfortable. In my eyes, the more room for personalisation a game has, the better.

(stealth6) #48

Well then look at it this way, SD went to the shop and asked what you wanted before they left, now they’re back and you’re like … wait did you get those beers I wanted…

NO

(its al bout security) #49

why do these forums become a playground for trolls? go back under a bridge.

personally doesnt really make a differnce to me.

the resources required simply wouldnt be as much as people propouse or assume they would have to be and i do believe it was a DO WE HAVE TIME??

really when you make a human being male the difference is major scaling and such but not much haarder than that. it wouldnt have taken much but time IS money and they probably where running out of both.

reguardless this wasnt the place every one had to scope out and troll.

if you dont like a thread DO NOT READ it your opinion is not important if it isnt constructive, if your just sticking your head out to troll do it somewhere else.

(iFork) #50

The only good that would come out of this would be rule 34 like so many other stylistic games. Checks out TF2 34 O GOD NOO GIRLS NAO

(Jimmy James) #51

I think this is a reasonable option. My wife and I are big fans of co-op multiplayer games and we’ve played ET and ET:QW since they came out. If SD did some marketing research I think they’d find that there is a significant number of female players for this particular game genre.

(ForeverEffigy) #52

then i say it should be a paid DLC. people will buy it even if they say it was a dumb idea. true fans will buy it along with the trolls.

(stealth6) #53

Well then shouldn’t this be on the Beth forums then?

So your wife still played it WITHOUT SD investing time developing female models.

(tokamak) #55
Im wonder … what is so different in customizing a dude from customizing a girl ?
Is the difference that big if you customize a girl or a guy ? I´d say no . And saying " Girls don´t belong to Brink " is just stupid ._.
You’re making it really hard for me not to utter misogynistic things on this forum. I know it’s hard to read a post when it has numbers in it, but seriously, just try it, it’s not hard.

(Munnky) #56

Apb did it and and did it well. No excuses.

(Oschino1907) #57

Still have yet to see an explanation of how to even do 3 body types or any of the other issues i brought up but of course the people wanting to see this dont want to provide a solution but only request for things THEY want to see. So many issues to work around but apparently they assume SD has the time and money to go out of their way to make something for the 13 people that want it. I mean come on now, you cant even solve the simplest and most straight forward problem yet claim it would be no big deal to get it all done.

Well I feel like we should be to Mars already and putting colonies there, dont have the solutions or answers to get us there but just feel there is no reason why we shouldnt already be there getting things done or atleast planning to do it THIS YEAR. I sure sounded stupid in that last sentance didnt I, just assuming everyone was just slacking off and didnt even make an effort to think about it or get it done yet. Maybe its just not something that fits into the immediate future or not even close to being cost effective enough have any good come from it.

Like I said before, MAYBE, MAYBE if this game sold 1million+ per platform so far and it was still selling strong but at this point there are so many of things that could be done to help bring new life into the game and help sway people into purchasing or comming back to it. I am sorry but adding Female characters isnt going to be the thing that saves it or drives sales, its purely just extra content in a game that we can all agree needs more core content added to it.

(Miken420) #58

Counter-Strike has female models

TF2 has female models

Call of Duty Black Ops has female models

Actually no, none of these games have female models. Unless you count user made ones. But it’s fun to pretend!

(DarkangelUK) #59

They did it so well that they forgot to actually make a game to go with it. Too much time spent on customization meant repetitive gameplay and lack of new missions… that died quite quickly.

(Nefarious) #60

No and NO!

The last thing I want to see is a bunch of light bodytype female toons in pink and purple running around in abundence knocking down Male Heavys with melee attacks. It will be visually stupid.
