Game freezes when loading

(Daemonicus) #1

Hey,

I did the tutorial on making a simple ET map for first timers.
I compiled it and tried to run it but the game freezes when loading.

Then i tried to run a downloaded map but there is give the error:
“CM_LoadMap: map/[mapname].bsp has wrong version number (46 should be 47)”

then i compiled the .map file which was included and tried to run it again but then the game freezes again.

the coords are a square and i have done the thing with sv_pure 0 and g_gametype 2

anybody knows whats wrong? :?

  • Did you place an info_playerstart or info_playerdeathmatch entity?
  • Are you using W:ET 2.60?
  • Does it only happen if you enter the limbo menu?

(Kic) #3

This number ( 46-47 )means that you have set bad Radiant or this message you get when you loading return to castle Wolfenstein map to Enemy Territory . i tried this many times and always when load map for other game get this message.

How big is that map ( mb or large )?

  • I have placed a info_playerdeathmatch
  • my ET version is 2.55
  • the game doesnt even loads i freezes at “awaiting challenge…0”
  • the map is 512 by 512 (the coords are mins: -320 320 and maxs: 320 -320)

(ajdude) #5

your problem is…

your coords for -512 512 are…

mapcoordsmins -528 528
mapcoordsmaxs 528 -528

just add 16 onto the orig numbers k…

aj

its what i do

(Daemonicus) #6

my coords of the corners are -256, 256 and 256, -256.
In the tutorial it said make the border 64 so de mapcoordsmins became -320 320 and the mapcoordsmaxs became 320 -320.
or not?

(ajdude) #7

to do the map coords do the following

find the top left corner… and add 16 to both co-oords
find the bottom right corner and add 16 to both co-oords

there you go ok?

I have a similar problem, map just doesnt want to load up. The compile passes normally, but the game gives this error:

sv_setbrushmodel : NULL

I have already tried to check the intersections of structural brushes, models, I have even deleted half of the map, that I was warking with before, it didnt help.

(Daemonicus) #9

i added 16 to the coords but with compiling it now says “map leaked”

i’ve uploaded the original file i started with today here:

(ajdude) #10

i will see what i can do k

EDIT: that upload dosent work…

try somewhere else

@Daemon -in Radiant preferences(press p), under game settings make sure Radiant is set up for Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. EB has some great beginner maps you should check out, so you know what you need to get started and to get a boxmap loaded. Here

@ajdude -as long as mapcoordinates are square and a multiple of 2 it doesn’t matter how many times you add 16

@Troy - brushmodel NULL means you have a leftover origin brush from something you deleted(script_mover, func_door…etc) and forgot to delete your origin brush.

gl all.

(Daemonicus) #13

my radiant was already set up for Wolfstein: Enemy Territory

(==Troy==) #14

if you have a map leak, just try (I know this is a nooby solution) make a box, bigger than your map, and press Hollow in the tool panel. this should seal the map properly…

(Kic) #15

sv_setbrushmodel : NULL - When you get this message in loading, this means that you have in map entity ( origin ) without function ( example doors )

(kamikazee) #16

Please only do this for ONE COMPILE ONLY. It’s only a good technique if you want to test a map when you are in a rush, but the extra box should be removed shortly after.

It can ruin a whole VIS compile.

(==Troy==) #17

Yup, thats why I said its a noob solution

IS there any way to find an origin brush? Which produces sv_brushmodel : Null error?

(kamikazee) #18

I believe you could do this by playing with the filters.
First, hide all translucent materials. Hit Esc to deslect everything, then press I to select everything visible. Press H to hide the selected things.
Now show the translucent entities/brushes again and they should be the only ones appearing.

Hit Shift+H to show the rest of your map again.

…back on topic :stuck_out_tongue: Daemon, are you using an old version of radiant? Especially if your game mode is set proper…

I dl your map and compiled. It loaded fine for me.

I’ve had that error before, around 3 years ago… I think I just dl’d a newer version.

(Daemonicus) #20

i have GtkRadiant 1.3.8, i can see if i can download a newer version

Edit: i’ve seen 1.5.0 (beta) and 1.4.0 .
I would think that the latest version would be the best but people say it sucks and stick to 1.4.0 .
Which one would you guys recommend?

Edit (2): Lol, 1.5.0 (beta) is 8 mb and 1.4.0 is 65 mb
