Game freezes during Intro video or first menus for single-core CPUs

(loller) #81

proof or it didnt happen.

(deadguyperez) #82

Hey next time you finally realize your a non-helpful individual only here to cause trouble and boast on your own successes just say sorry instead of posting yet another non helpful suggestion for an AMD cpu.

6000 posts? get a job.

(deadguyperez) #83

trufax 10characters.

(Hoodedsniper) #84

Is it possible to share saves or characters, maybe if you manage to make a character you wont crash anymore.

(Niceperformancethere) #85

your below minimum requirements so we dont get to play. sorry bro. have a nice weekend sd.

(deadguyperez) #86

There are others who are not under minimum requirements and can’t play from the same bug.

No. Having a save file does not help. I was able to log in at work and create one. Now it just freezes at the character select screen.

Funny thing is my work PC is a great core but not as good video card. If the core mattered all that much it would play nicely at work.

For the 1 second the graphics are running at home it looks really smooth. But… then freeze

(Nail) #87

sorry, was in a hurry, not sure if 2 cpu can work the same as dual core but I’d think being on the very bottom of usable specs, you’ll have problems with the game no matter, a lot depends on your total specs, sata drives will respond better than ide, higher speed RAM will also help.

AS I posted in another thread a dxdiag is always helpful along with any crash logs

the thing is, i have never ever seen a game so dependent and strict with its requirements, developers use them as a generalization on what would just be a standard to run and you base it off that.

Not a list of exact parts you need to run the game which is basically a fault with brink atm.

(Nail) #89

lots of people have video cards that will handle the game, but not the CPU, you need both, 3-6 year old confusers will be marginal for many games

(deadguyperez) #90
For people that have two separate single core CPUs, could they run the game with +set logfile 1 and post their cpu specs together with the part of the console log (this can be found in Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata<steamid>\22350\local\base\console.log) that reads something like:

3051 MHz Intel CPU with MMX & SSE & SSE2 & SSE3 & HTT
2 logical cores
2 physical cores
HT disabled in hardware
This is from a game developer. They are going to try and fix the issue Nail. Also: AMD cpu’s dont have hyperthreading.

For everyone else with this issue: Please do what the game dev says. :):)

(Hoodedsniper) #91

Im just waiting to see any patch for this issue just so if it doesnt fix my problem im just gonna get a refund.

(loller) #92

not gonna happen. No official response means no patch coming. Refund it.

Still, id like to know soon if there will be a single core/dual processor patch. I know i cant get my money back but i can get rid of brink and the $50 back into my steam wallet.

(deadguyperez) #95

If you have dual single core, and already bought the game, Please do what the game dev said to do.

Didnt read all 4 pages sry but have you tried skipping the intro altogether?

If not add this to BRINK Properties in steam (right click brink) click SET LAUNCH OPTIONS and in small window pop up ADD +set com_bootLogo 0

Also you could get a fresh made character to add ?
If its been said sorry.

Yes, I have tried skipping the intro and the first video. Still freeze.
I can’t create a character.

(deadguyperez) #100

Yes unfortunately everything has been tried for this issue. I even made a character on another machine that can’t play this game fps wise and tried to load up my home pc which can and it still freezes. So it’s not the save the ark escape the ark screen it’s whatever comes after intro video, which I think is the actual game video initialization.

I even clicked real fast to try and select character and start missions and no matter how far I get it still kaputs.

If you have this issue please read and do what the game developer said on page 3.
