As the title suggests, sometimes when you throw sticky bombs on to enemy players, they just vanish when you try to detonate them, playing no sound, dealing no damage and showing no explosion. I’ve searched the forums and found others having this same problem, so this is clearly a real bug with Fletcher. It’s bad enough that sticky bombs are one of the lesser explosives in the game, but now it seems they don’t even work 100% of the time. I don’t think the team saw those other posts and no one replied to them, so hopefully someone will see this thread and investigate the issue.
[GAME BUG]Some Sticky Bombs Vanish without Exploding when Stuck to a Merc
Revelant : http://forums.dirtybomb.nexon.net/discussion/12702/fletcher-remove-detonation-delay#latest
First noticed by me, then noticed by @Fuze. Randomly, Fletcher’s Sticky Bombs seems to disappear without even exploding when you stick them on an enemy. This is extremely infuriating and makes Fletcher’s battles more or less ruled by RNG, which shouldn’t be a thing at all. I can’t find a way to reproduce that bug, but it exists, and prevented me from dealing with an opponent a lot of times, and oftenly twice in a row against the same guy.
Please fix it soon.
@Sniff : we may need your help to catch a video proof of that nasty bug. Have you ever experienced issues with your sticky bombs yet ?
Yeh, I have maybe 3-5 clips of this. Will have to sort through a fair amount of clips though.

@Sniff
Turns out this problem is a lot worse than originally expected. Last night I threw a sticky on the back of a Sparks while she mindlessly looked out a window on Trainyard. This time around, the detonation played a sound and showed an explosion, but still did no damage. The Sparks did in fact hear and see the explosion and she immediately started to freak out, quickly turning around and started to engage me. I just blew her face off with my shotgun, but was still in a state of shock and confusion when I witnessed what had happened. This is the first time I witnessed my sticky actually exploding but dealing no damage. Now that I know there is a chance that a sticky will explode, playing a sound and showing a visual, but still dealing no damage, suddenly a lot of encounters make a lot more sense when coming to the realization that they can deal no damage regardless if they actually explode or just vanish without a trace. I want to make it very clear that she was not under the effects of revive protection or the likes. I had actually spotted her peeking in and out of the window nearly a minute before deciding to sneak around and sticky her. In that time, she did not die, nor were any of my teammates in the area. How this bug is able to survive in open beta is beyond me. Heck, it’s no wonder Fletcher is one of the least played mercs. I mean sure, he’s still considered lackluster, but now he’s the only merc I’ve seen that has an ability that just DOESN’T WORK. If anything good has come of this, it’s that I feel even better about topping the scoreboards with Fletcher, now that I know that he is not only unpopular and considered not on par with other mercs, but his ability has a chance of literally doing nothing. What an ego boost! B)
I think I know what window you are talking about. The one with a mounted MG? Sticky Bombs do no damage to people on a mounted MG.
I also have clips of that.

Oh no, I’m aware of sticky bombs doing no damage to players on a mounted MG. With that said, I’m glad you mentioned that in this thread because I’d love to know why the heck sticky bombs also do no damage to mounted players. Anywho, I’m talking about the window in the building with half a staircase that no one seems to understand you can wall jump up to.
Still looking for that elusive clip. I may of deleted them. If I have I run into the bug many times during the day. I’ll keep an eye out.
Explosives doing no damage to MG user:
Obviously if it’s a bug it needs to be fixed. But there is a little voice inside of my that is cackling a bit at this since many many MANY Fletcher players don’t seem to realize they have two other weapons beyond sticky bombs. I’ve went whole matches playing against people who I never saw fire a weapon. So yeah, I am laughing a bit even though I know bugs like that suck when it’s your preferred class to play.
You guys should report this on the Warchest forums since the SD devs look at those pretty often and will even respond there. http://forums.warchest.com/forum.php

Sticky bombs are more of an active weapon, rather than an ultimate ability. Think of them in the same light as the Rhino minigun instead of the Fragger grenades. Sticky bombs are a weaker explosive, but they have a fast cooldown. Because of this, you’ll see Fletcher using his ability a lot more than other mercs will. I also tend to run with my sticky bombs out instead of my knife, so you’ll see me holding them even more than most. As far as his actual weapon set goes, his primaries are pretty bad. The Blishlok has been hit by a ridiculous nerf that makes it so that random rounds will just fly off in odd directions, making it completely unreliable to use at mid-long range. If you try to hit someone in your crosshair, there’s a chance that none of your rounds will hit and that’s pretty silly. Instead of losing accuracy as your bloom increases, even your first few shots can go off flying into the sky for no reason at all. Shotguns on the other hand are pretty nice, but they seem to suffer from hit detection the most. Occasionally you will shoot someone in the head at point blank, but hit detection will only read a single pellet making contact. I don’t have to explain why that is bad. However, I can not complain about his secondaries. In fact, the Empire-9 is my favorite weapon in the entire game. So when it comes down to it, Fletcher has an ability that randomly does not work, a primary SMG that randomly has no accuracy and a shotgun that randomly does not register all pellets that hit a target. He’s the full package of a game breaking bug, a mindless nerf and some questionable hit detection all rolled into one. At this point, he’s the gambler merc, but his jackpot sucks. Now, with all of that out of the same, I still rip people apart with Fletcher. Even when I late-join a match, I tend to jump up to top 3 within a few minutes of play. But you better believe my mood is ruined every time I get killed because of the game messing up instead of being bested by another player.
How many of these deaths were caused by the game? I shouldn’t have to ask such a question.
EDIT: I just want to make something clear… I’m not trying to sound like I’m whining about my k/d being hurt due to game bugs. I’m not one of those useless engineers that avoid the objective and just kill farm. In fact, I always play the objective, unless another engineer has proven to be a better fit. The reason that I achieve the k/d that I typically do is because I like to clear a path to the objective with my team instead of being one of those daredevil engineers that run past enemy lines, being separated from their teammates, having a vastly lower chance of successfully interacting with the objective. I’m more of a “slow and steady wins the race” kind of guy when I’m designated as the primary team engineer and need to play the objective. Even when I’m not needed as an engineer and do focus on killing, I’m just playing to have fun. So don’t get any wrong ideas about me. lol B)
Sometimes stick bomb kills are not displayed in the middle hud scoring system :
You’ll see detonation score (+25 points) , splash damage (+10) score but not the “name of player” + number of HP. The only thing confirming your kill is the top right kill HUD displayer. Which is rather annoying because I often use the personnal scoring system as a “kill confirmed” feature then I turn to something else. This is surely not related to the bug you explained here, but that’s something I noticed with fletcher only.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that as well. Just another annoyance we have to deal with until they fix Fletcher, I guess.
There’s a lot of bugs that need a fix. I hope we can expect a huge bugfix patch next week.
[quote=“Sniff;34413”]Where did it go? It’s magic!
For those who don’t see what is going on, when he throws his sticky, it sticks to the Aura. This can been seen by the bonus xp he receives at the bottom of the screen. However, it vanishes. If it blew up on her before she turned the corner, she would have been killed as a sticky bomb stuck on an Aura will 1 hit. Obviously it didn’t kill her, sooo…
[quote=“Sniff;34413”]Where did it go? It’s magic!
It LITTERALLY disappeared BEFORE he even had the time to activate it. Excuse my language, bit this is just plain bullshit. Our stickies shouldn’t disappear like that due to RNG’s good will. This needs a fix asap.
I guess I’ll turn into a parrot if I say even more “this needs a fix”.
Anyway, @Fuze : did you made a thread about this on the warchest forums ? I planned to go by myself to report the issue with the augments, but I can also report the issue with sticky bombs if you didn’t do it already.

I haven’t. Feel free to.

While annoying, this isn’t Fletcher exclusively. I can 100% say it happens on Fragger a lot, and while I’m not certain, I think I’ve seen it on Nader too. I think it’s an explosion thing, or that the game can only display a certain amount of lines at a time in the personal scoring ticker thing.
I wish I had been recording this yesterday, where - 5 times in a row, without fail - my stickies would just outright disappear, leaving me with a full hp merc in my face and a lengthy weapon switch time.
I really, really want to enjoy Fletcher as I love his playstyle but this, potentially coupled by the time it takes to detonate (why Fletcher doesn’t hold his remote in the other hand is beyond me
) makes me feel like I’m wasting my time.
