fully patched ET release?

(Pande) #1

fully patched ET release…

that would be kool for all the computer illiterate (no problem there really, most people are) people that try to patch their game and are like lolwut?

Basically, its easy enough to host on filefront a package like that but I believe by law because its SplashDamages game, you just simply can’t.

Therefor, would someone in SD be kind enough to take 20 minutes to patch ET and upload to filefront/SD website/enemy-territory?

Would be kool to have that done, then no one need worry about replacing et.exe and etded.exe and using the 2.60 patch installer.

We’ve had a full patched 2.60b installer on our site since March '07

(aaa3) #3

ironically (reading the 1st post), filefront has one too :stuck_out_tongue:

(Nail) #4

some of the 2.60b installers contain a lot of baggage, maps, mods etc. Ours is just the game files

(stealth6) #5

so you got just one installer that gets you to 2.60b straight away no bs?
link?

(aaa3) #6
link?
what is in his sig… ;O :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

btw, [off], it would be great that sd makes one too, offers only it on their page and not the 255 instlr, and to remove as much as possible mirrors for the 2.55 one from every site. (filefront, etc) (except wolfmap because there u only finding it via searching, and when results show both ones obvious everybody new will dl the later.)

(calipso) #7

let the people choice…since there is no way to play 2.55 on a 2.60 install, it’s nice to be two installers. 2.55 is still played a lot, RtCW 1.0 also. Same game same fun. Player’s choice.

(Etnies) #8

ET ultimate installer and it has been out a good few years, http://etui.kashu.fr/

or the ETpack @ Crossfire http://www.crossfire.nu/?x=tutorial&mode=item&id=10

(aaa3) #9

@cal: et starter pro ^^ iirc it includes the 55, 56 and 6 bins (u have to manually change the 6 to 6b in the notlatest version)

(Nail) #10

there are patch selectors available that do 2.55, 2.56. and 2.60

(calipso) #11

are those patch selectors included in ultimate 2.60b installer? once again let the players choice witch version to play. After nearly 6 years from releasing there are very few people who wants to play this game knowing nothing about it. I believe there are enough installers on internet that permit acces to every version. 99% of “old/new” players know how to install it.

(Nail) #12

as 2.55 is buggy and exploit riddled, our site no longer will support any issues with it.
Patches are made for a reason

btw, most “new” players have trouble with any software that doesn’t have “autorun”, I constantly get people asking “what do you mean extract, what’s an overwrite”
New PC gamers are likely to have come from consoles, and are usually the ones who call custom cfgs “cheating” It’s all quite funny to those of us that came from Wolf3D days

btw, Wolf3D just had it’s 17th birthday a week back

(ailmanki) #14

isn’t it ilegal to make such packages?

Else… why not repackage it with some fine maps, omnibot or bobot,
And good startmenu entry?..

(Nail) #15

some installers do come with “extras”

as for legality, afaik in these cases intent is what counts, these are done as a “service”
the installer on our site just has just the game files and end result is the same as downloading 2.55 and patching to 2.60b on your own

btw, imo fritzbot is the best

Fixed

(Nail) #17

it’s a patch, no matter how it’s installed
once again, don’t be an ass
