Hello, this is going to be my personal opinion and suggestions for this game.
First of all the OVERVIEW : This game is HORRIBLY UNBALANCED. :smiley:
Okay so if you are a fanboy and don’t want to improve this game, you can stop reading NOW.

Now first of all,
Why the hell does every gun in this game have identical (nearly) DPS.
I mean SMG’s, AR’s and MG’s everything has nearly identical DPS.
So everyone is gonna ask, what is the problem in that.
Now the main problem in that became an issue in the last patch. (Atleast for me)
The feature is called “Damage Drop-Off”.
This made everything highly unbalanced. Ask why… I am gonna elaborate…
Consider a SMG with 120 DPS.
Consider a AR with 120 DPS.
Now… Consider a fight at 10m distance where there is no SMG damage dropoff. So both players have equal chance of winning the fight.
Now… Consider another fight at 50m distance where the SMG has maximum damage dropoff. Now the AR has a significant advantage over the SMG.
the point–> SMG is good in close range… AR is good in Close range AND Long range.
Where is the balance in that ?
Even with all the same DPS, the spread on SMG is less, AR also have very little spread, Machine guns have lots of spread.
Now spread system is kind of OK but DPS is not.
For every gun to be balanced there are 2 ways which can be gone.

  1. Remove damage falloff.
  2. Balance DPS as following
    i) SMG --> Low spread, High DPS, Low range
    ii)Assault Rifle --> Some spread, Lower DPS ( than SMG ), Good Range
    iii)Machine Gun --> Huge Spread, VERY HIGH DPS, Good Range
    The whole point of the balancing is, as each merc is used for different situations, different weapons need to be situational. There is no point in game if a AR can dominate SMG in all ranges.
    Now you guys tell me what you think abut my opinion, and feel free to post your opinions too.

Um… you do realize that certain weapons are restricted to certain mercs right?

A Skyhammer never has access to smgs, similarly a Phantom has no access to any rifles.

There is also the whole team ability aspect of the game that you are totally ignoring, where a Skyhammer may be better at killing but is not good at healing compare to Sawbones.

Well, I agree that range doesn’t really seem like it does much to affect the game, but that’s about all we agree on it seems.

Really I just want predictable recoil and spread for all the guns, then balance the damage and range accordingly.

It’s all because STARK AR rifle is made by god for his purpose :smiley:

It’s the superior rifle in the game still it has it’s balances . In my opinion The game is BALANCED pretty well :smile:

I am not saying this as a FAN boy still you could see person with melee nailing players of higher level trying to shoot … it’s skill , dodging and fast game :smile: Even AURA kills Rhino with the skill … so i think it’s balanced or not but you could do everything with skill … only SKILL :smiley: .That’s the essence of this game. Thank you

That is kind of the Point, ARs are ment to be overall strogner, but Smgs are easier to use overall, higher fire rate much less punishing to miss a shot

What? an SMG doesn’t have the firepower of an AR? Wow, how unrealistic and unbalanced!

Without going really deep into it, you have no idea abot balancing, sorry.
You are acting like a SMG player has 0 chances against an AR player in a range where both have no damage falloff. And this isn’t true.

If anything rifles could do with even more effective range, I’m shooting people who are not even at what one would consider a particularly long range and losing like 3 points of damage.

The only unbalanced thing in this game is the PDP, Ahnuld, and team balance.

And like Renpsy said, the guns are restricted to mercs. If you’re playing a merc that has SMGs, playing at range is most likely not how it is supposed to be played.
