Fueldump Spring :: Poopy.

I was playing the Fueldump Spring mod on my server, and it’s pretty bad. So I decided to re-do some textures to make “Fueldump Summer”.

2 things:

1- I tried a test (My first MOD, so anyways) of just changing the sky from clouds to a solid blue. fueldump_clouds.tga. I made a file the EXACt same size, amde it just solid blue, added some opacity, and saved as a 32-bit TGA file with the same name, added it to the pk3, and the sky won’t show up in the game now. I have no idea why.

2- Where can I get the fueldump map file? I want to edit some things in teh map editor. (IE: Change the ice to water, move the command post, etc.

PS: All credit will be given out for this map. Some to the makers of FD Spring for the textures and idea, and most to splash damage for creating fueldump.

dont think your allowed to edit the official map as the maker of fueldump spring never edited with map editor they just raplaced textures also this should be in the mapping forum or in my post about the map >:@

Why didn’t you just use the thread on Fueldump Spring instead of starting a new one on the same subject?

BTW there’s prolly more than one file making up the sky, and it won’t be as easy as replacing a single TGA. Perhaps the ppl in the mapping forum can help you there.

Depends how your testing your map too… eg, Locally or Online.

Cant you decompile maps? :]

yes, but doing so would be considered bad.

Also may cause some problems with other maps if u go editing shaders/assets willy nilly

Besides, the map you consider to be so bad is a beta. So its not expected to be perfect just yet. It’ll get better with revisions from the maker.

I am the founding member of Blitzkrieg Designs, aka [QCS]Chris aka LordKennobi. zero chAos, what makes our mod “pretty bad” hmmmm? You give no real reasons. I shouldn’t imagine yours will be any better as you can’t even get yours to work.

Yes, as [!]Icon points out, the first release of Fueldump Spring Offensive was only a beta, and updates will be made.

However, we are already creating a Autumn and Summer Fueldump Mod set, that will, together create an All Seasons style of stand-alone campaign.

Hi all!
I also found the map and it is nice to have a change, fueldump is a cool map, a bit too cool and i now want to see something different than snow :slight_smile:
Unfortunately the team starting spring mod stopped in beta, the homepage is outdated and the email-adress isn’t valid . So i was thinking of changing the last few inappropriate textures so that it becomes a nice green map.
That is not so the problem, because i can handle the gimp for changing the textures, unfortunately my coding skills are almost non-existant, so i need a bit of help. :poke:
I want to change the splashs when bullets hit the ground.
Simply changing the textures is bad because the white splashs are also used for water, and brown mud fountains out of clear water look awful.

Is it possible to solve that problem with a script (loading the texture for this map from a different folder, change a shader(not sure what a shader exactly is), or do other things i even don’t know the word for) or has anybody another idea?

I would be very lucky when somebody could help me, already thanks for your thoughts about it.

Don’t change textures and shaders, that replace the originals!
If you make such a mod, create textures and shaders with a unique name and use the remapshader command for replacing the textures! Remapshader can be used with a per-map-script and won’t mess up other maps like the Spring Offensive MOD messed up all other maps that use several snow assets (Railgun, Transmitter, Ice).
Don’t do another half assed MOD!

exactly. all the spring “mod” did was make me have to search for it every time some server infects my PC with it, so i can delete it and watch my demos normally again.

while i’m bitching: why WHY don’t/can’t server admins setup their boxes so that i can play there WITHOUT their little 2KB campaign pk3 files or stupid watermarks etc? i want cl_allowdownloads at ZERO, and that means finding maps on websites - which i’m OK with - but half the time i end up having to allow their trash on my PC in order to play, even if i have the maps. is this because server admins are dullards and are somehow making their idiotic crap mandatory in order to connect?

admins, stop that. stop it now plzkthxbye.

wow, seeing those screenshots bring back memorys from “forest”

Many days i wasted thinking i could just sneak behind that moving truck so the guys at the bridge alarm wouldnt see me. Took me ages to realise you have to take the long way around (which is just the the rope bridge in fuel dump) That route seemed like miles back then :slight_smile:

Rivrstyx also put together a spring pk3 for Fueldump, Railgun, etc that just uses remapshader commands - pretty nice

Oh, there exist another version, where perhaps the bugs (snow splash and some textures) of this spring mod aren’t inside?
You know where i can find it?

And if not, i told you i don’t know much coding, but perhaps this is a good point to start…
With my non-knowledge, i think this remapshader command just tells to use other shaders wher i change the used textures :???:
Is it possible for me without knowing more to do so, and where can i find a explanation how to write that, or is there somebody who has the patience to explain it to me?

If there is more behind it, just tell me and i will reduce my hope and really start from scratch to perhaps do that in half a yea or so.
