From Quake 4 to RTCW 2

I just read an interview on GameSpot which indicates that Q4 will have classes. Is it possible that for the multi-player part, the developers will implement some of the strongest elements from RTCW and ET? Is it possible that instead of a RTCW2, we get Q4 which borrows from some of the most successful FPS and mash it into one great multi-player game?

Probably not, but it would be better than waiting up to three years for RTCW2. :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, they managed to have between 12 to 16 players–so far. Sounds good to me.

I hope not. I’m not a big fan of anything Quake, but I am a big fan of all things RTCW.

i think its developed by two groups, not the same one… theres very little chance they would agree to work together

From reading that article it seems only in singleplayer are there different classes (much like the medics in call of duty or medal of honor) and multiplayer will be very quake III like.

BF2 is apparently strenghening the class thing (inc medics) and adding an XP-like thing, though more ā€˜pernament’ XP rather than just for one campaign. They actually referenced RTCW in the article iirc (well, either they or the interviewer did).

He mentioned Med packs for meds a la rtcw right?

This is essentially the first thing I’ve heard about Q4 MP, and it sounds like good news to me. If you can implement Q3 style gameplay, you can do RTCW.

It is also nice that they can admit that ā€œDoom 3 multiplayer all over againā€ isn’t a desirable goal.
