Well the options look promising.
Can you make the bot react on foot steps??
Cause my experience is that they only shoot on sight and not react to footsteps behind them.

You’re definitely a hero for our 56k-ers! :rocker2:
(plus bot router Denny :drink: )

(nUllSkillZ) #4

Hmm, would it be possible to create some “survival”-maps (a team of humans vs. a team of bots) with these bots?

(Loffy) #5

I agree with nUllSkillZ. That concept (idea) is interesting and worth developing.
I can imagine a sort of slaughter/survival map/mod, where the number of on-coming bots are determined by the number of human players.
Great work with the fritzbot! Gj!

Great work!
They are very similar to normal pub players ( mainly at warmup hehe )
However:
*They don’t look they care about planted dynamites ( at least at CP )
*They seem to ignore disguises
*You should add max turn speed cap ( to make them a bit more human like )
*There should be a voicechat option for them, to make less spams
*You should also make etpub version ( just get diff and patch it there :stuck_out_tongue: )
*I dont think you should mod ET gameplay in a botmod ( like medkits from medics, thirdperson following … ) but there isn’t anything major :), also some things are in ETPub as i suggested above
*You should make names avaiable to be modifed ( somebody may not like offensive names there ) - EDIT: found myself
That is all i could find in a short test, I am pretty happy with them, and this is a good way to play ET offline
I am sure that if anyone will request for ET bots he will be pointed to this mod as well
EDIT: that idea is more worth using NPCs, you should be pretty avaiable to use bot AI for them, but they will be some work themselfs
But then again you should be sticky with 64 players total

(thefatladysings) #7

that would make a very fun zombie slayer mod, wouldn’t it?
if anyone is going to make something like that, I would like to help

  1. Yes they do, but it depends on whats planted on. The enemy planting on a major objective, is a top priority, and the bots will respond and defuse. Planting on a CP (that can be rebuilt), it very low of their priority list, so will usually be ignored. Which, if you think about it, makes sense: are you more worried about someone planting on the main door on Radar if your axis, or someone planting on your CP?). Also - low skill bots respond less to plants then high skill bots.

  2. Only on easy skill. The way Fritz is setup, its like playing 3 different bots, depending on the skill level. If you play them on easy skill, they behave like a n00b player, which means they ignore coverts, don’t pay attention to sounds in the game, aren’t as tactical or bright about fighting, all the way up to skill 3 where they play like a veteran. They hear you running around, anticipate your actions, spot disguises (especially if you do something that gives you away).

Some of the things a high skill Fritz will see that will give you away as a covert:

a. Running around with the satchel out. Obviously.

b. Running up the the bot whos uniform you stole (yes they recognise you have their uniform, and respond).

c. Blowing something up with the satchel.

d. various other things they look for about your actions that may not gel with what someone on their team would be doing. It took a LONG time to get this right.

  1. Yes, this is something that needs to be worked on a bit more.

  2. I already have a lot of features that ETPub/Shrub has, and will add more in time.

  3. The map cfgs are all open to anyone to change anything they want - you also have access to the bot lists, and can pick which bots you like.

RE: survival maps:

Easy to do with the mod as is - just add bots from only 1 team, and have your friends join the other team. Check the “docs” dir to see what bots to add.

I’ve played before with 3 humans, and 7 bots in a nightmare battle to the death with the bots before. Its actually a lot of fun!

RE: snd detection:

Yes, they hear your footsteps, IF they are high AI skill.

Thanks to everyone who has tested Fritz and for your comments and suggestions.

There is only one thing I’d suggest before you form an opinion one way or another: play Fritz on all its different AI skill levels. Theres a lot you miss if you only play on Easy.

Cheers!

I like it, it’s a great way to kill some time
Also it’s a great way to learn maps, just follow the bots

I remember when I asked about Fritz-bot’s capabilities for an sp-map purpose. That must have been a year ago.
…glad to see that all of the time you’ve spent on this is paying off.

I was thinkin that survival mode would be like Counter Strikes mod Zombie horde. So that other team should be bot zombies that only uses knives and they would come in great numbers and would have lots of health. and would take damage only at headshots.

Of course that would require some graphical changes, special maps and of course code changes.
but that would be cool!

Uh I have to say I had some hilarious episode with FritzBots.

I was attacking as allies at siwa oasis near the axis garrison spawn and spotted some mines at spawn area as a covert.
One bot stopped and started to look at the mines. others joined him and they tried to make a tower.
They managed to do 2 man tower. (others were trying to get on their shoulders)
Then they all threw a primed grenade at the mines. I lolled a lot.
Nice mine defusing tactics!

(zivs) #14

Btw do they do selfkills? For example when taking a flag 5 seconds or less before respawn? O_O

(T1G3R) #15

Hi,

first of all that Bot R U L Z! 8D
But i would like to see the other standard Maps like Seawall, Goldrush ect…
Is it possible to play them 2?

@zivs
I´ve never seen a bot doing a selfkill!

EDIT:
Is it possible to activate the Hitsounds somewhere?

(thefatladysings) #16

sounds great
maybe we should try and make a mod team for it

(advieszeur) #17
  1. When comes the unix (server) version out??

  2. Works the pub/shrub command the same way (shrubbot.cfg, levels etc)

  3. Can you give me a list what can be used now? (etpub commands)

(Maleficus) #18

Other maps are on the way - I just need to finish tank/railgun support.

Cheers!

(T1G3R) #19

Could this be used for some kind of single player mode? Like adding a new gametype (actually it is alreay there but unused) and making a single player AI for it. Scripting’s already there, don’t know if it would work for single player.

Just an idea. Finish the bots first, then think about adding something.

And someone mentioned either here or in the other topic that you shouldn’t add anything gameplay things. I don’t mind if the player can choose the use the extras (FG42 for RtCW for example) or not.

EDIT: The bots have ping!?
