i may see the point that in a F2P Game lot of ppl that are used to FFoff might not like it but hey … mesuered by what this game wants to become FF on is mandatory.

i can only see one reason FF off and that is the the pace, the speed of the game.

on the other hand FFon will prevent spamming of airstrikes, artillery, nades ( uh that nader-girl) and stuff and leads to a more coordinated teamplay with more communication nessecary. a lot of nerfing and balancing discussion would be obsolete (… and no, i dont see why these things would become useless with FFon )

At least make some of the servers FFon !

i think the necessity of FFon in competitive play and/or kind of pro-mode is obvious, but give the ppl on pubs a choice in offering FF on servers.

I’d guess it’s partly because it’d be so easy to kill team mates - mainly due to things like air strikes and artillery.

If there was more warning, maybe that would help?

I general I’m in favour of FF. It’s irritating to see an attacking team throw an airstrike marker and then rush the obj at the same time…

Obviously, friendly fire/collision servers need to happen. Rank restricted to 7+ might be best right now.

Sure, some map choke points are quite silly and will become more so, and 14-16 players would be messy given the map sizes, and there aren’t great measures in place to deal with stupid people. However, it’s a closed beta and stuff isn’t perfect and won’t be any time soon. It’s getting old having indiscriminate fire and thoughtless explosive spam. I’ve yet to see anyone argue against having friendly fire.

You read my thoughts.
Only FF is the real thing.

  • FF on
  • Team collision on
  • selfhealing off

Maybe, not necessarily, restriction of the amount of airstrikes in a time, like it was in ET Pro.
But that might be obsolete if FF is on, so i dont care too much.

If this happens i will be fully satisfied with DB.
Everything else - the “merc xy is OP”- discussions - is compensated by good teamplay.

All the overpowered-concerns actually only happen, if you meet an above-average-player.
And these folks are always hard to beat, nerfed or not.

we need FF on if for nothing else then to see if the lack of strategic teamplay is blamed for it. FF on for a week on passworded servers (pw here) so that no random newbie would get thrown into it, and also easier to control potential griefers.

I actually think that FF is pretty intuitive
for me it still feels weird to shoot teammates in the back without anything happening
i also don’t think there will be a lot of griefers, especially not in closed beta… and votekick is already there too.

I don’t think FF will be unintuitive, but we need new hitsound (atm. with FF on you will get the 'enemy hitsound), better votekick; and generally, isolating newbies who carelessly spam without even realizing FF is on. I’d rather only play with people who know what they are getting into.

I don’t like the idea of isolating newbies in FF off servers, they might also get a wrong feeling of the game.
shouldn’t take you more than 1 match to realize that FF is on.
the hitsound is a problem though yes.
And i would never vote to kick a lvl1 player for a teamkill.
if its just too easy to kill a teammate accidently, we need another damage multiplier on teammates like 0.7* dmg for example, that would be on us to find out.

but no to seperate the “newbies” from the - lets just say - lev 7+ ( just an example). eveybody should have the choice to play either “real” (FF on) or “kindergarten” ( FF off), and everybody should get used to FF from the beginning on.

sure to everything said, my concern here is that:

  • at the moment the game doesn’t support FF very well: no hitsounds, no good votekick

  • I’d rather have the option TO PLAY NOW with FF on, but if the concern of devs is griefers and newbies getting frustrated, then let us have our own PW server, while those features are implemented.

Of course, once the framework is set in, I’d want FF on everywhere, tbh, or at least 50:50 on pub servers and let the community decide what they like more.

No to friendly fire on pubs (with all the explosives spam, this would be unplayable), yes to friendly fire on passworded servers and in matchmaking.

i think the 8v8 servers need to go… It’s ok for some maps but for most it’s just too much
6v6 should be the maximum in my opinion
the game shouldn’t encourage spam, but tactical use of abilities…

Just get it done for Competitive servers. Whether or not to enable it on (some) Casual servers can be a fight for another day. And yes it will be a fight, because there are clearly strong opinions on both sides of the argument. :slight_smile:

But having it on Competitive servers should make most people happy.

If there was a vote I’d definitely want FF on for competition, FF Off and FF On servers for casual play. Make sure when you join through the quick join that you specify if you want to go to a FF Off or On server and if you join an FF On make sure there is a message telling people that they will be removed if they TK too much. This works in other games and eventually people learn, new players are informed and everyone is happy.

This is the problem though, it splits up the playerbase for quick play, which is never a good thing if it can be avoided (and it certainly doesn’t make “everyone happy”). Right now it wouldn’t even be feasible. In the future perhaps, but I would still be against it personally.

You will not be able to get everybody to agree on this, so why not focus on what we can agree on for now: Friendly Fire for competitive games.
