Or u can add no collision for your team8s and collision for enemies ,which also helps for spy checking
Friendly Fire
A problem that has been overlooked is the griefers that DON’T kill other players, but stand in doorways or block other players into corners. COD seemed to be rife with guys who did that and you had no control over it whatsoever. A number of times an entire team was wiped out due to some fool who thought it would be funny to block his teammates into a room where they would continually spawn and get killed.
I think FF can be an important element to create strategy, but also a last resort option to remove these fools who just stuff up a game, or those that are inadvertantly creating a poor situation for their teammates.
The “boot” feature should always be there, but like in Halo, it should only be provided in context. Running towards a friendly grenade usually doesn’t give you the boot option once you blow up. But blatant headshots or a constant stream of gunfire on a friendly should at the very least give cause for a warning, if not removal from the game.
If FF is not present in BRINK, there seems to be huge openings for bottlenecking your own team or cornering ppl. At least the power is back in your hands if you have FF and a “traitor” is in your midst.
Remindd me of a CS:S vid I saw years ago, two teammates blocking a third one in a little vent system for ages, the blocked guyy went sooooooo mad it was hilarious, cant find this vid now sadly.
Peace
Although it should be an option i would prefer collision with enemies and no collision with teammates, TF2 style. So like you can’t stand in the same spot but you can run through (it slowly pushes you out from inside a teammate).
ET’s push mechanic allows even more griefing then just collision with teammates.

This mechanic is in. It was confirmed about a year ago
I actually had no idea “no-collision” was in! Well, that eliminates my whinge, then.
I respect the fact that some people like the FF option. That’s kewl. But, I don’t want to have to make the extra effort to police the match for those idiots that like to team kill. (Believe me, they are more prevalent than you think.) I’d rather spend that energy having fun and not having to worry about party-poopers.
That and on the few matches I have played with FF on, sometimes you get situations where teammates walk in front of your gun or you shoot them by accident. Also, kind of a bummer.
It just adds another dimension and peril. I love it. That’s why Left 4 Dead’s lasted so long for me. Playing on Expert just takes it to the next level when one shot will drop someone.
It’s sort of about how you learn to play. If you learn to play on FF off servers (or games) then you will have a much harder time when you go to a FF on server and you will accidentally team kill people like crazy.
But it really doesn’t take long to learn to be carefull, and once you start playing with FF on you will realize it adds an extra element to the game that’s otherwise missing. At least it did for me, and I dislike going back to FF off servers/games if for no other reason than those bad habits start coming back.
As far as policing, if someone is griefing with FF they will probably find some other way to do it some other way, so you are going to need to weed them out anyway. Once they are banned they are gone for good. But I expect you’re right and there are a lot more of them out there than I expect (I play almost exclusivly ETQW and griefing is practically non-existant due to the small community).
Like you said, to each there own.
^^ Agree that FF-off is a great way to learn the fundamentals of the game. I remember my dad playing ET would always TK his team and get kicked (guess he wasn’t a fan of nazis). It being OFF by default makes a lot more sense when you think of how noob & fun friendly the game is made to be. Nobody wants to get shot by new people and new people don’t want to get punished for reasons they don’t understand but at some point it would be really cool if they bribed people to play FF-on servers because as Cankor said the additional dynamic is preeeeetty awesome and should at least be tried for a few days (trying something for 10 minutes and saying boo doesn’t count as trying it).
That’s exactly what I liked about the game. This was already prevalent in L4D, but apparently Valve wanted to amplify this by introducing a jockey and charger who ride you on your back or bash you to the ground and hang over you. In both cases it was inevitable that you would bleed your team-mates, but how much was depended on your skill, your focus and the distance. Great fun.
For me the benefits of FF on for gameplay and stopping cheese tactics far out weigh the annoyances of people who haven’t learnt how to control their fire. The simple complaint system from RtCW / ET / QW did a pretty good job of getting rid of people who TK’ed on purpose, and griefers were practically a non issue. In FPS that are less teamplay / stat orientated with power up’s, vehicles (BF series tank / heli TK’ing is bad) etc it’s a MUCH bigger problem.
Splash I believe have even alieviated the old TK someone so they can get the XP / badge / pin for the plant on the objective by giving the supporting players XP for assisting, which should help stop those douchbags.
As Weapah said, off by default makes perfect sense, but a way to encourage people to try FF on once they’ve learnt the ropes to move their gameplay to that level would be good. A FF enabled (full damage, no reflecting rubbish) server full of good teamplayers who know how to control fire and make full use of FF when maneuvering is an amazingly fun experience.
