lol in public this never needs to be on trolls who lose just will shoot team mates.do not turn on in public it will be a nightmare.
Friendly Fire will ruin this game.
I’m fine with FF. Punishes people for running in front of you when you are about to throw a nade instead of just yourself by having them bounced back at you.
Also motivates people to better communicate which supports teamwork.
Do you realise that those same people will be able to punish you back by typing /p in chat ?
FF was never a problem in the bf-franchise until EA started to go after the CoD crowd(from bc2). In BF franchise you simply had a punish system where players TK-ing too much got kicked out of the server while accidents was forgiven.
FF do add tactical aspect that is long gone in most shooters these days. With FF on people are more aware of their surroundings and team mates and dont spam bullets and explosive every where. without it every fps game becomes an explosive spam fest.
Fortunately SD have limited the spam due to the nature of how the cooldown works in this game.
anyways, if people are worried about trolls etc just look at how TK was handled in bf2 and earlier games. not bullet proof but it worked absolutely fine to keep people from trolling.
and FF is still on in competitive even in bf4. so why not in competitive in dirty bomb?

Yes, but if you’re more careful than they do, they won’t have the opportunity to kick you with this. And if you’ve done a mistake, like throwing an airstrike way too close from your team and kill 3-4 mates, it’s engaging their own responsibility to kick someone who can be a good element in their team for a single mistake. No matter what you think, FF on generate way more interesting behaviour within a team than it generates griefing and trolling.

I have some serious doubts, but I respect your opinion.
Well to be fair they are though.
Right. So why make the game worse or tailor it to accomodate the garbage part of the community? That’s my take on it though. I understand how some people would rather have the game tweaked to minimize what trolls and noobs can harm. On the other hand though no matter what they’ll do something. AFK in spawn with the turn-in, purposely avoid doing the objective as an engineer, etc.
FF is what makes a game competitive. You can’t expect a game to grow if the mechanics block bullets going towards your teammates.
FF is awesome. When I used to play with ff off servers it was like kiddy hour. No consequences to anything. Use your brain and dont kill your friends.
Welp it’s time to skip comp quests then, shame but i won’t deal with friendly fire bs…
Edit: Seem like a bug but until it’s fixed i’ll stay away from comp just to be on the safe side
Apparently it’s another bug that some MM games have FF:

Oh man, rip

Yes, but it doesn’t really matter. Losing a bit of exp won’t be something to get frustrated over. Also won’t get kicked since it’s not like it happens 10 times during a game.
I would love to play on server where friendly fire does 25% - 50% of damage to teammates…
Alright essay like post ahead so get some caffeine if you wanna keep up.
Friendly fire is a mechanic that has existed since the early days of team based multiplayer. It’s purpose is simple, it’s a feedback mechanic that cuts down on people getting in the way of shots and reducing spam. Similar to the purpose of aimpunch and hit beeps, they serve as information for the player’s senses.
So, what are the pros and cons for Dirty Bomb?
Well the pros are pretty simple, one, I can actually kill that dumb guy that got in the way of my grenade as a Fragger or Nader. Yea, they die with me, BUT THEY LEARN, and that’s the key thing here with a lot of this stuff. It enforces people to be aware of the allies on their team, like their Sniper while he’s taking shots, or their team mates who need ammo, and shoot at the Skyhammer, with a pistol, for the 15th time, cause you aren’t giving me ammo you SON OF A BITCH, JUST DROP A FUCKING AMMO PACK ALREADY, SHIT!
…sorry, that’s the alc- cough meds talking, but you get my point, it serves as a punishment for when players aren’t doing what they are supposed to, and reduces mindless play by forcing people to think and consider what they are doing tactically before they go forward with it.
But onto the cons. Obviously the biggest one is trolling and griefing. You know those people are out there, who think it’s funny all the time to kill their team mates, and it stopped being funny after the 16th time. Or the fact that…well, honestly people in pubs are stupid. Like that Skyhammer example, some people really are that bad. And yes it gives you a tumor trying to grasp how but it’s there. And forcing it really wouldn’t be received well since playing with these players is already frustrating as it is.
I think the solution here is pretty simple, only enable it for competitive. I mean, I know that’s divining the community a bit but that’s inevitable. There’s already a divide with that, with people who think the game should be balanced around public play and those who believe that it should be balanced around competitive. I think it’s pretty clear that there’s going to be some sort of divide no matter what. I mean who’s to say there won’t be arguing over Stopwatch vs Execution?
But the main reason I feel it should be enabled for competitive is simply because it’s the best feedback mechanic I can think of for reducing bad habits and team work. Which is exactly what competitive needs since the people who play it seem to think they can stomp on their own, which they can’t. I mean, some people can but that’s because people like Amerika, Prophet, Ragnak, etc, are already turning people’s heads into trophies so…there’s going to be that skill gap until match making gets more popular and the player pool increases. And that in itself and how to give more incentive to play competitive is a whole separate discussion entirely.
So, the tl;dr of this? Enable it for competitive, leave it off for public play, and everyone is happy. Or at least I’ll be when I get some damn ammo…jerks.
Again, I would love only few servers, marked as “beginners” servers where FF would be disabled.
Let’s already explain to those few guys that if they see FF as bad thing they are in fact complete beginners
Want FF on in some level 10+ servers, in ranked “competitive”, and in the passworded competition servers. Everyone else can spam mindlessly away in FF free servers.

Punishing people was a fun part in ET series. You may not know that for some reason :I
yes please, if just a few minlvl10 servers get ff-on ; you can expect them to be full 24/7
FF on will be tested in Private matches, and then it will become an option in MM, or even in pubs (via callvote prbbly?). I am all for this option, but not a mandatory rule.
It is also a medic tool. Why waste a pack on a guy with 1% health when you can kill him and revive at higher and faster. Very handy trick in the right hands. There are always going to be ways to abuse mechanics. I’d love to see FF on ervers introduced. Also, limited lives servers.
I think making FF mandatory in comp games will bring only good things to the table - increased communication and less airstrike spam in particular.
I also believe that anyone who can’t handle FF in comp mode should probably reconsider playing comp in the first place.
