Friendly Fire will ruin this game.

I am sure those will end into a trollfest, where the goal is to try to make your ally shoot you to suck up his xp and throw him out of the server… Or just killing your whole team by yourself, blocking ways, or whatever. Trolls are creative.

But if you prefer FF, go ahead.

(AirborneAsian) #22

FF should be on ranked matches. FF should be a option on pubs. FF should be on competitive. They should make a rule that if the enemy destroys Proxy’s mine, Proxy should not get the punishment. Only when Proxy shoots her own mine to kill friendlies.

(Edzer) #23

I’m fine with FF. Punishes people for running in front of you when you are about to throw a nade instead of just yourself by having them bounced back at you.

Also motivates people to better communicate which supports teamwork.

OK I can confirm it FF-On in comp/ranked and I love it.
You hear your teamates grunt in pain when you hit them so its easy enough to stop.
Bodyblocking is in aswell, so less chances for someone to suddenly run into your fireline to begin with (far less nades bouncing of teammates).

Punish/forgive system works nicely would prefer it if it wasn’t through the chat system and rather the vote system. Forgiving people can be a bit of a hussle but atleast it is persistent so you can still forgive people after you die.

Overall feels great, sure the next couple of weeks there will be more TKs. Since people have to adjust to it. But as others said FF-ON in comp/ranked is the right thing to do.
Tho I must wonder why it wasn’t mentioned in the patchnotes, hopefully this is not a bug/oversight.

(MarsRover) #25

So can we already get rid of the play/win competitive missions? I solo queue and I have no desire to repatedly die, especially during a Nader rotation.

(Fleshpound) #26

Nader and Kira rotation… it will be a pain for competitive.

what is this bs?

I just played a comp game and i can confirm THERE IS NO FF available.

Raising my hopes up : (

dislike for spreading falsehoods :rage:

(Gi.Am) #28

@Szakalot I had ff-on in comp/ranked this morning. Gonna play some more later today. But if you didn’t have it. Maybe ff-on in ranked is a bug rather than a intentional thing would be sad indeed.

(MarsRover) #29

Apparently it’s another bug that some MM games have FF:

(Szakalot) #30

well damn, i wish it was on

(Gi.Am) #31

yepp gotta confirm its just a bug, what a bummer. was the best match of my life :frowning:

(Atherel) #32

When FF is on by default, there will be trolls and a lot of frustration. On the other side, FF on adds a lot to the game as you have to proceed more tactically.

I think a solution would be to have FF on and off pubs and to have penalties in competitive games to get rid of trolls.

(Volcano) #33

why not vote for it during the warmup or have FF on servers very clearly marked

(B_Montiel) #34

Ok, glad to hear it is a known bug.

No matter the bug, the biggest problem is when you turn all the servers FF off for long period of time, all the community will think it is the norm. And the step backwards will be impossible to do. But personally, as I already said it a couple of times, having no FF on pub games will inevitably shorten the life expectancy of dirty bomb in my regular game selection. SD’s games are meant to be played FF on, even if they’re big explosive spamfests. If you can’t experience the same rule as tourney/pugs in MM and pub games through a specific selection, that’s sad imo.

This completely changes the map awareness experience/depth of the game. Old db beta players know it’s perfectly possible to have an enjoyable pub game with FF on. How hard can it be to turn 5 servers per region as min 10 + FF on. They can afford it. And for those who still think those games will be full of trolls, they’ve added a punishment system for a good reason. And I’m totally sure people playing on those servers will be bright enough to moderate themselves.

(Atherel) #35

Why change it during the warmup? I want to know what kind of server I join before I connect. Just have different servers with FF on or off the entire time.

(K1X455) #36

FPS Lag & Net Lag will get someone FFed… should be active only on LAN

hence the very clearly marked part

(Pecka) #38

I somehow cannot believe someone can complain about FF being on in competitive

Like yeah, for public servers you should have few with FF on and Off, and if we once get dedicated servers, it will be up to the server host.

But guys remember, it’s just another level of gameplay. It simply prevents from blindly spamming explosives and spraying bullets. You just have to be more careful about what you do.

Also as some people mentioned, old SD games had FF on by default and it was never ever problem. Usually servers had a configured that after few team kills you get automatically kicked, or you get automatically kicked after X punishments from players.

Also this punish/ forgive thing is there since RTCW, but it’s not like people punish you all the time.

I know all this is more challenging without dedicated servers (as dedicated servers tends to build communities with their own admins), but from my point of view it’s something that should be just on by default and we should have only few “noob” or “begginers” servers where FF would be off.

(guru{Chux}) #39

FF makes people stop and think for a second, nothing wrong with that. I’d force it everywhere, not just restrict to comp because it gets on my nerves having essentially 2 different games. That will split the scene even more.

EDIT: and crying about XP loss ?! cmon, why would you make such a big deal out of it. The XP whoring is way out of hand already. People find it more important to have more XP in a match rather than play the map and do something useful

(LifeupOmega) #40

FF is great, I love it when a Sparks sees me at 10hp and murders and revives me at full instead of waiting it out. Makes people think.
