Just to clarify if it sounds like I’m trying to bring down the game or SD, Brink is my favourite online shooter. Before it was Battlefield: Bad Company 2, so that is saying a lot. If I get angry at what I call the mismanagement of the game is because I love it and would want it to get it played by many people and tweaked and improved in the future for a long time, but as things are I’m not sure that is ever going to happen, that is what makes me sad and angry.
free DLC - too little too late?
Yep in case of brink the stats are mp + sp combined, the only issue I have with brink is the perfomance in 1st because its kinda unplayble with a average decent pc plus a ati graphic card and the bugs in 2nd.
That’s how we all feel. Those who gloat over Brink’s failure are already gone so I’m sure SD will understand the way we express ourselves now.
i understand the issues people have with the game, but it’s still fun.
some can be played through (there are tactical solutions to carb spam), some cannot (there are not for lag…haha)
i think some of the adverts and hype raised expectations pretty high - and which we be tough to live up to even if the game was A+
throw that into the shark waters that are the current state of the internet, and I’m not surprised there are some vocal folks on here with (mostly) reasonable complaints.
it’s hard to tell whether this is a vocal minority and the game will eventually persist through some needed updates and appreciated expansion, or whether it’ll be bots or nothing if you want to play the game in 6 mos.
i def recall playing QIII with some similar (esp matchmaking) issues, and at the time, i just didn’t know any better.
FIXES is a priority on top of that DLC, I would like to see the people who are having trouble playing this game to finally start playing again so i can play against more opponents.
I had some great QW matches after I reinstalled it in anticipation of the Brink release, but since Brink is out I’m only playing Brink. I too hoped that it turns out to be ETQW 2.0 and if I hold on to that expectation I would have to be disappointed forever. Beside the fact that the story is total crap compared to the brilliant Quake setting Brink is in many ways more simple than ETQW.
But it’s not necessarily bad it just turned out to be different. And the most important thing for me was: It didn’t fail to deliver objective based gameplay.
The initial question was: Will the DLC have any effect?
I think yes, absolutely. It won’t turn the game into a super-popular MP game.
But if major technical issues are addressed and the two maps turn out to be good and nicely done (less like Reactor and more like CC and Refuel) then the player numbers will go up again.
I may come back on DLC to test out the 2 new maps but after ive tested those I quit again (pretty sure about this).
I’ve been pushing myself to stick with the game and hold out for the DLC, however it’s becoming difficult. I’ve already ordered the Witcher 2 and once I play that I wont be coming back to this. Brink has a short future unless the DLC is truly epic.

What if the two DLC Maps are like Security Tower and Container City? Four Objectives, 1 for each class? I would like that… would everyone though?
I would pay money several years in advance just to see if SD can produce the game they’ve been trying to for years without a publisher screwing it up.
FYI: Container City doesn’t have a medic objective and the operative objective isn’t primary like Sec Tower.
I would like these to be big maps with plenty of objectives. Reactor and Shipyard are limited only having two hard to do objectives.
I do hope the DLC comes out soon, I want to play the new maps but I also want a lot of the fixes the community has been suggesting since the games release. That would be tops, to know that SD want to listen and consider player suggestions.
That’s what I meant, more like Container City (CC), Refuel or Sec Tower.
I would like that very much.
btw. a SP Action-RPG is a poor substitute for Brink.
Maybe the free dlc (aka cut part from the full game) will feature balanced map, that would be the first time in BRINK
Yes let’s take the map that has possibly the worst performance and build another map inspired by it! Then let’s take another map that has the attacking team get spawn camped forever and build another map inspired by that! That’s 2 great ideas! I’m really surprised at the crappy maps, to be honest; you have the guys who did cp_freight, de_dust(2), cs_italy, the ET:QW/W:ET maps, etc., and you end up with these crappy, unoptimized maps?
I’ll try the DLC, just because I haven’t uninstalled BRINK since I can’t trade it in; I’m not expecting much and I really doubt I’ll get a game under 100ping, lol.

I know. But still it’d be cool to have an obj for each class on a map.
And even with the last balance tweak, the hackbox is still a big fail !
the game is much better with the ESL rules who say to not de-hack. that the only way to have a nice fight
the very big point for me is the DOUBLE FULL HOLD SYNDROME who clearly show a big fail in some map design. don’t know how to change this but only 2 words came in my mouse for the moment : EPIC FAIL !
If the DLC ever comes out I wouldn’t say it’s too little too late no. It’s a bit under promoted though and not enough info comes out of SD for us. Bethesda is holding them at the spawn in Container City so they can’t breakdown the wall and give us info lolz.
ha ok ! undertand better !
last time a saw them on reactor they fail to hack the bethesda website !
This game will most likely still be absolute garbage even with the DLC. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the DLC just makes the game worse.
