Framerate issue - AMD CPU / AMD GPU

(Tahitibob) #1

Hi there,

Here’s my specs:

Phenom II X4 955 @ stock
4 GB of RAM DDR3 (1600 MHz)
Radeon HD 5870 @ stock

Brink is running like sh**… :frowning:

I’ve tried the new 11.5a Catalyst, but no improvements (I was using 11.3 before that, but never tried with these)

It seems that most AMD/ATI users have problems like that, so are you working on releasing a patch soon to fix this problem, guys? Like before Friday evening? :stuck_out_tongue:

Cheers!

Same issue. I’ve only played Single Player so far, so I can’t report in on the Multiplayer part, but I’ve heard that Single Player can cause major performance issues since the AI takes a ****load of CPU (showing 80+ fps but feels like 15).

My specs are:

Phenom II X6 1050T
4 GB DDR3 RAM
Radeon HD5870
Windows 7 32-bit

I’m having problems too. I tried with 11.2 and 11.5a drivers.
Framerate hops between 80-125, but feels like I’m constantly running 15-30. I tried making a Free Play mission with just one bot, but that only slightly improved performance. Also tried the parkour challenge but to no avail.

I’ve seen other people run this game perfectly on high settings with much lower system specs. I’m hoping for a reply from devs soon!

EDIT:
I’ve now tried 11.2, 11.3 and 11.5a. Changes pretty much nothing.
Tried with and without shadows.

Cya.

(Ricaz) #6

If I were you, I would get an nvidia card if you’re gonna upgrade.

(The_Smurph) #7

No where does anyone stat they are looking for an upgrade. Please dont put up pointless post. Im having issues as well. The Grid of course, and poor performance with drivers from 11.2-11.5a. The rollback had no effect on my system.

AMD Phenom ll X4955: 4.1ghz
ATI HD4870 1GB: GPU: 833mhz Mem: 925Mhx
Windows 7 64bit

(Ricaz) #8

Not so pointless, as mostly ATI users experience this problem.

Hate to break it to you but the 4670 is faster than the 5570.

(donatom3) #10

Here are my specs I’m averaging 30 fps and only showing 50% utilization of my gpu at most

Phenom x6 1055t overclocked to 3.7ghz
16gb ram
Radeon HD 6950
Windows 7 64bit ultimate
11.5a hotfix drivers.

(Ricaz) #11

donatom3, try disabling Occlusion, that worked for some people.
I have everything on lowest settings and still feels like I have 20 fps even though Fraps and the in-game fps counter showed me 80-125 fps.

I would really like some answers from devs.

(Shindawg) #12

You’re right, it isn’t pointless, but alot of people aren’t keen on spending 100+ dollars on a brand new card just to fix an issue for a game that shouldn’t be there.

(Ricaz) #13

No, but he said he was already going to order a new card, might consider choosing nvidia instead, that’s all.
I’ve had issues with alot of new game releases on my HD5870.

(Therapy) #14

Same here, Phenom 960, 3.6GHz quad, 4GB DDR3, Radeon 4890 and it runs like ****.

(Siddvicious) #15

I have an ATI 6950 card and I was getting terrible FPS when I first started playing the game. I had the 11.5a drivers, Triple Buffering in CCC was turned off. However once i uninstalled the drivers and installed the 11.3 drivers, and disabled shadows I was getting 120+ fps.

Do yourself a favor and downgrade to the 11.3 drivers, it’ll hopefully fix your FPS issues like it fixed mine!

(AliveAngel) #16

C2D E7300
4 GB Ram
Radeon HD6870

with all settings low, configtweaks and so about 30 fps…

newest driver, hotfixes and stuff installed.

Will try this,

And I’m getting the same problem with my ati 5670.

(ryryelectro) #18

Can anyone tell me what’s wrong with my game? I don’t get this on any other game. It’s like my graphics are littered with flickering black boxes!

(donatom3) #19

Ricaz, I got Ambient Occlusion off already. I’m going to try the 11.3 rollback. I know 11.4 was the first drivers to have some major tweaks for the 6xxx series so that might be why everything post 11.4 isn’t running with this game.

EDIT: Just tried 11.3 and I was getting consistently good frame rates now. I have Vsync on and it wont’ dip below 60 fps.

(Ricaz) #20

donatom3, I will try downgrading to the 11.3 drivers now, too. It’s nice to see people posting the specs and drivers, it should help fixing the problem. Also, please describe when your issue is occuring. Single Player? Multiplayer? Specific maps?

EDIT: Rolling back to 11.3 changed nothing. Can you tell me how your Catalyst is set up for gaming?

Keep it up!
