Framerate (fps) in game (maps), and rig

(murka) #41

Made some more charts. This time the focus was on players vs fps. I really didn’t have good data for lower playercounts nor did i do a solo run through the map so it’s not all that good, but I’ll try to do so in the future.

Will do a stability chart tomorrow(distribution of the frametime delta).

My PC as always.
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate
CPU: Intel C2D E8500 @ 3.8GHz
RAM: 4GB 800MHz DDR2 CL4
GPU: Gigabyte HD7950 @ 950MHz/1350MHz
Resolution: 1280x1024
Driver Version: Catalyst 12.10
All settings lowest.

Might 'swell do mine.

OS: Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i5-3550s @3Ghz (to lazy to overclock)
RAM: 8GB (can’t remember which DDR it is)
GPU: MSI GTX 660 TI POWER Edition
Resolution: 1920x1080
Driver Version: No idea, can’t remember how to check.

140-250fps @ all low GFX (without .ini editing)
I get a steady 90FPS on maximum settings on every map with the latest drivers @ 1680x1050.

Processor:Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 4.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~4.4GHz
dont you mean quad at 3.8 or am i mssing something.
i decided to get an 8 core system after reading this spec.

The 2600K is a hyper-threaded quad (so 4 cores, 8 threads)
The base clock is at 3.8GHz, but most will overclock to 4.4GHz very easily.

Wow, all of you have killer PC’s.

Just like acQu my PC is not high end. And the game is not enjoyable with fluctuating frame rates (between 20 -70)
I need to have a look at the config and maybe force the FPS to 30 frames.
Oo and everything on high, I don’t like ugly graphics

Specs:
OS: Win 7 64bit Pro
CPU: Intel Core 2 duo E8600 @ 4.2Ghz
Mem: 4GB
GFX: Asus geforce GTX680

The newest 8 cores AMD CPUs usually provide worse performance in games than i7 (Sandy/Ivy) ones

(iwound) #47

thanks i had read something similar. was considering the INTEL Core i5 3470 3.2Ghz X4 which out performed the AMD chip at the same price, the i7s appear to be a bit pricey.

(Kinjal) #48

OS: Win 7 Ultimate 32-bit
CPU: Intel Core quad Q9550 2.8 Ghz
RAM: 4 GB
GPU: Palit GTX 570
Resolution: 1920x1080

FPS: 60-120 (all low)

My pc seems to list 8 cores, but it only has 4 cores with 8 threads. Also I OC’d to 4.4GHz.

Just tested DB on my parents rig and got only 10 fps:

OS: Win 7 Ultimate 32-bit
CPU: Intel Core i5 2.6 Ghz
RAM: 4 GB
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4600
Resolution: 1920x1080

(murka) #51

Kay, got some data off my new rig and compared it to the old one.
First impressions were that tracking enemies was a lot easier, especially when server full. Stats confirm this hunch.

Here’s both setups in detail

CPU: C2D E8500 3.8GHz

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L
RAM: 2x2GB Corsair XMS2 800MHz DDR2
GPU: Gigabyte HD7950 Windforce3
CPU: i5 3570K
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H
RAM: 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance 1866MHz DDR3
GPU: Gigabyte HD7950 Windforce3

Resolution: 1280x1024
All settings low

(Dragonji) #52

Meh, the game doesn’t feel good on my old E8400 @ 4 GHz when a server is full :frowning:

(murka) #53

Yep, the game is very cpu bound at this moment. Even a 3570k will start to bottleneck fps on a full server(1player 200+ fps, 16 players ~140fps). Right now 3ghz quad seems to be the minimum for decent playability.

(Dragonji) #54

Well, at least it doesn’t require a high end graphics card. DB seems to use maximum ~90% of my HD4850’s GPU in the most demanding scenes (every graphics setting on low tho)

(Stoffifee) #55

OS: Windows 8 Pro 64Bit
Mainboard: Asus Crossfire IV
RAM: 8GB Corsair
CPU: AMD 6core @ 3,5GHz
GPU: Asus ENGTX580
Screen: Asus VG278HE 144Hz
Resolution: 1920x1080
FPS: 60-120 (all settings low)

Hopyfully config tweaking and further updates will improve its performance. Dropping down to 60fps means clumsy movement and spongy aim. At least for me.
