Framerate (fps) in game (maps), and rig

(Loffy) #1

hi, just reporting in the framerate

I get constant 60 fps in all areas. (london bridge, waterloo terminus, and whitechapel). My rig is less than 1 year, with an Intel i7-2600 processor (3.4 Ghz) and a nvidia geforce GTX 560 Ti.

EDIT1: I forgot to mention: game play feels smooth. No studder, jerky:ness. Nice flow, feeling to it.

EDIT2: Testing Paul’s advice (see post below): Ah, thx! When I disable vsync, it goes up to 90 fps. (In some areas, it is 75-85.) Game still feels smooth ofc.

EDIT3: Use this trick to add your specs to your signature:

(Paul) #2

If you disable vsync, are you going up to 90 then?

(Donnovan) #3

I have severe frame rate drops for some seconds after changing the video settings.

(INF3RN0) #4

I get a steady 90FPS on maximum settings on every map with the latest drivers @ 1680x1050.

Steady 90 fps, all settings on high, resoltuion: 1920x1080

i7 2600K

GTX580
Win7 64bit

(murka) #7

Case1
Almost stable 90 fps on low. Only drops when large action occurs.
60-90 on high with massive drops on even some action.

C2D E8500 @ 3.8GHz
4GB DDR2
HD7950 @ 1050/1450
Resolution 1280x1024

Case2
70-90fps on low. Seldom drops to 50-ish.
Very unstable 10-40 fps on high and huge drops depending on action.

C2D E8500 @ 3.8GHz
4GB DDR2
HD4850 @ 700/1050
Resolution 1280x1024

Shoddy FPS, between 20 and 50 depending on action and location, not smooth at all
specs are on the low side though. I do hope it will improve a bit, I can play Tribes at a better framerate and that’s unreal engine too.

Athlon X2 3.1GHz, 4GB DDR2, ATI HD4850 GS OC’d, 1280x1024.

I’m surprised your going above 30 :stuck_out_tongue:

I was playing with Breo and we found that the option Depth of Field make great change on colors.

Making game warm with it off and washed with it on.

I personally think the warm (when dof is off) is really ugly compared to the washed one (when dof is on).

I have now everything off and just depth of field turned on. I can have all other options on and depth of field off (the reverse) and i still belive the first combination is better!(!(!))

Make the test your self, you will find the big change in colors this option make!

Ah! sorry. Forget to talk Toonic from SD joined us and sayd there is a bug related to dof turned off. So i believe the uglyness you get when it is off is not supposed to be, and will be worked off.

(light_sh4v0r) #11

Shush, at least I can play .
Like I said though, I can run Tribes at a stable 40 which is fine for Tribes as you’re mostly skiing anyway, not much twitch action and strafing.

Steady 90 FPS, all high.

Hi guys,

I’d like to hear your opinions about which machine would be able to get higher FPS in DB alpha:
Such a laptop:

[ul]
[li]Intel Core i5 2410M (2 cores/4 threads)[/li][li]GF GT 540M (1GB VRAM)[/li][li]4GB DDR3 RAM[/li][/ul]
Or the following desktop:

[ul]
[li]Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (2 cores/2 threads) OC’ed @ 4,0GHz[/li][li]Radeon HD 4850 (512MB VRAM)[/li][li]4GB DDR2 RAM 1066MHz @ 5-5-5-15[/li][/ul]

Asking because I have a possibility to use this desktop (I’d only need to fix its mobo) but I’m not sure if it’s worth to take it out of my basement

(Pytox) #14

I have steady 60 fps on medium, about 25-30 on high
Intel i7 860 @ 2.8 Ghz
Sapphire Hd 5850 ( 1GB )
G.SKill 8GB RAM
Resolution: 1920 x 1200 ( 16:10 ftw  )
Win 7 64-Bit

I think I will have to find it out on my own.

(Paul) #16

After the last update I had around 80-120 FPS with DirectX 11 and everything on super high

(murka) #17

Well i can only state that this game requires a lot from the cpu, but I’m not quite certain which one is better. Your desktop should be getting 90 stable on low but also drops depending on the action which taxes the cpu.

(INF3RN0) #18

Bumping this thread for the new guys.

(warbie) #19

i5 ivy, 670 gtx, 8gb ram - all overclocked to within an inch of their life!

Performance is very smooth - usually in the 100s - maxed at 1080p.

(acQu) #20

Intel Core2 Duo E8400, 4 GB RAM, ATi Radeon HD 5830, Resolution 1920x1080.

Framerates (profile on high, vsync off): not so good (~30 - 50 on the 3 maps, camden a bit better). Got a stuttering very frequently. Also inside the UI menu i got input lag, the cursor is not very responsive. Game is not enjoyable.

Framerates (profile on low, vsync off): better, but still feels not precise (on the 3 first maps i got ~30 - 70, Camden gives me a nice ~90 - 150 FPS). Stuttering still frequent, but not so on Camden. On UI menu i got still a bit input lag.

EDIT: in addition: framerate very unstable. Mostly fluctuating from 30 to 70. Depends on where i stand in the map and which direction i look at.
