Fraggers nade is op

(Rex) #1

Fraggers nade is ridiculously op. I don’t know what exactly it made like this, but now it’s just horrible. Requires no skill either.

The famous 1 nade spawn wipe on WC:

All you need to do is throw it somewhere on the spawn ramp and BOOM kills start to rain. I don’t know his nade was never a problem in the past, but now it is.

(tokamak) #2

Still very situational. Those type of kills used to be normal around spawns in ET.

(Rex) #3

Maybe you should start to play the game instead of posting things everyone here already knows.

(xdc) #4

the spawn design for defense at that area is low quality, it is not surprising you got a 4 or 5 kill there

Last objective on this map needs work

(rapid_shot) #5

Sheesh, that escalated quickly. =P

In my experience, it hasn’t been that substancially overpowered. It’s probably a hint on the strong side, but it’s all part of the balancing process. Or maybe you’re just really good because you’ve been playing the game for awhile.

I don’t mean to thread hi-jack (eh, maybe I do) but Thunder is a piece of crap ESPECIALLY in the shadow of Fragger. Half the time (half because I suck at it and half because it’s just like that, so through flawless logic and mathematics, let’s say a quarter of the time) I end up blinding myself and getting killed. Maybe give him some specticals that absorbe the flash on himself or something else to make that merc useful.

(k1ruaa) #6

Poor map design in this last part is the problem here I think too.

(ragnak) #7

I agree that its OP at the moment, fragger would be probably OP without them. You can “cook” them too fast, and for the power cd is probably a bit too short. I agree that maps are badly designed but most of them offer a ton of options for nades, so unless we get open maps nades would still be too strong.

(BomBaKlaK) #8

So much agree with this !

Biggest problem is maps … as usual …

(INF3RN0) #9

I still stand by my suggestion that longer cooking time = smaller AoE. Also the recharge rate should be longer.

(BomBaKlaK) #10

This or maybe only 1 nade ?

(Protekt1) #11

I think 2 nades is fine, just longer cooldown and/or 2-3 mercs that have some anti-explosive abilities.

(INF3RN0) #12

only 1 nade doesn’t make it any more skilled though, 2 on a longer c/d would be fine otherwise.

(BioSnark) #13

Agree with title. Think having cooldowns more comparable with airstrikes might help or slowing down the flight speed so people have time to react like with air strike and GL spam. Also saw some of his loadouts have that bloody burst m16… but that’s another topic.

(xdc) #14

The augment that reduces explosive dmg by 20% makes the grenades non-insta kill in close range if you have 100 hp

there are no anti-explosive mercs in the game yet, but maybe “turtle” will be one of them

(ToonBE) #15

Rex, you just perfectly placed it:p It is strong yes, but I do not feel it is a bad thing… Maybe I need to get naded more:p

(k0k0nat) #16

its not about this particular spawnrape / map location.

This thing has a 10km splashdamage radius and still rips u apart.
No need for timing/cooking and skillfull throwing.

lower inner deadly radius almost to the point where a head shot nade kills, and torso nade leave with like ~10HP
lower splash damage of the outer radius.

Its quite easy. And im sure SD wont admit it.

But games NEEDs noobs to be happy for the game to survive.

This is why you have nubetubes for beginners.
If newbs get own3d too much, they will stop playing, and this bad for business, according to many companies.

The better solution is to make noobs play against noobs, (with matchmaking).
(and then restore balance to weapons, so they are balanced for pros = restore damage to smgs, and reduce damage for nubetubes)

(xdc) #19

this game doesn’t update fast enough for me. I think ill come back in a year… or two.

(sunshinefats) #20

This whole issue of certain weapons being “noob” or “no skill” items really rubs me the wrong way. I sometimes get the feeling that people just want everyone to run down the middle of the street at each other and see who can left click the fastest…now that is what I would call no skill. Don’t get me wrong, I’m the first to admit that, yes, some weapons are beginner friendly, but that’s not to say that they require no skill. Case in point: once in ETQW I saw a soldier hip fire a panzer across the entire map and kill someone. Yes, he friggin SNIPED them with it. More than once. It was once of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. I spectated him for quite some time just to see what the deal was. The dude was surgical with it. On top of that it was virtually impossible for the enemy to keep any kind of deployable active because of him and his panzer. Was he a no skilled noob? Definitely not. And he was not an anomaly. I saw many people in the pubs who could do that sort of thing, and was always happy when they were on my side(it’s a great feeling of comfort knowing that you won’t be mowed down by turrets and that tanks have better things to worry about than you). My point is…if someone can cook a nade for 2 seconds then lob it over a wall and down an alley because he anticipated that you would be there when it went off, then I call that skill. Sure there will always be ppl who just blindly throw them all over, and yes, it sucks to be killed by that, but you can’t let a few bad apples spoil the bunch. I believe fraggers nades are a good compromise as they are, and wouldn’t change them. But that’s just 1 guy’s opinion, take it or leave it.
