FPS......
what are the requirements for this game?

and off topic @Amerika does technical support work i send a ticket few days ago?
I am 100% certain the stated requirements for DB are not only wrong but incredibly wrong in regards to getting optimal performance. I think those are old UE3 requirements back when UE3 was first released. But DB is using a more modern version of the engine and a modified version of it as well to meet their own demands. I’ve brought it up quite a few times but it’s most likely low on the list of priorities to look at.

Umm, I’m not sure. I don’t have anything to do with technical support. I’m just a volunteer mod. I do know that Noxie is always buzzing around the technical support section of this forum however so if you have an issue you might want to create a thread there.

ok thanks

sometimes i wish we could give like agree and insightful at the same time

(misspo) #43

Well, SD said they were working on optimisation atm. I hope i will see more stable fps fix and boost.

(watsyurdeal) #44

There’s not much they can do in regards to that honestly, they are using DX9 which greatly limits the resources they can tap into for performance and optimization.

(Amerika) #45

Well, a while back I made quite a few posts in regards to certain events causing spikes that could easily choke some hardware. Most of the time FPS would be fine then bam an event would happen and it could potentially choke even higher end PC’s. They finally mentioned something about that recently and said they were looking into performance testing to find events like that and then look into what they can do to fix them. That should help everyone overall regardless of hardware.

(watsyurdeal) #46

If I had to guess, I’d say it’s Echo or NGS, just a hunch.

(Amerika) #47

It could be but it’s probably just events happening in with the game/engine causing it which can cause choking. Which is why FPS fluctuates so badly in DB. If you actually want to get a bit of easy insight of what is required to hardware optimize go watch the behind the scenes movie made for The Last of Us. They show what hell they had to go through to eek out FPS for that game on the PS3. They show how they were able to track down certain events that caused massive dips in FPS. SD would need to do a similar process using somewhat known problem hardware to try and fix FPS drops like this and it can be tedious.

Aside from the fella with the web-browsing laptop, I doubt anyone is getting the expected performance out of DB relative to current AAA-titles and hardware specs.

It’s not apples and oranges, it’s code optimization, older engine and protocols. I mean we’re talking about a 6v6(ish) shooter with so-so graphics (they’re fine, hardly stellar) running small maps, yet performing like a beached whale.

I look forward to the day when I can actually run a steady 120 with the graphics cranked up, just like I can with every other comparable title on the market.

Welcome to MP games on UE3.

Can people stop using this engine please.

(Canucck) #51

mmm… i’m running on W8
Still uses Aero.

Right click desktop --> Personalize --> Select a basic theme

(Ghosthree3) #52

You sure it does? I know Windows 10 doesn’t and frankly it’s basically Windows 8.2.
