BRINK has been playing nicely on my computer with around 60-100 fps until today when I got a new case (Don’t know if that is why I have this issue) when the FPS suddenly sometimes drop from 60-100 FPS to 10 FPS. I have tried other games like Portal 2 and they run seamlessly.
I am using an ATI card btw and yes, I have updated the drivers to the 11.5b hotfix.
Computer setup:
AMD PHENOM II X4 955 BE
ASUS M4A78LT-M LE
CORSAIR 4GB DDR3
XFX RADEON HD6850 BLACK ED
Is the case not providing as much airflow?
If you just swapped out components from one case to another it may not be a bad idea to make sure everything was seated properly.
If it isnt getting enough airflow then something may be overheating which can cause lagg and FPS issues.
It is odd though that it would occur just from swapping cases.

The airflow is better with my new case, it is 10 degrees (Celsius) cooler.
what driver were you using before? maybe you want to get it again, since 11.5b isN’t really working for you…

i have nearly the same setup and the same performance issues. last week i could play with 60-120 fps (very low detail cfg). but when i started brink yesterday, i had about 50% fps decrease. maybe it was the latest brink-update, that has been released at 05/27/2011?
when you swapped case did you reinstall windows?
its an odd problem. maybe some RAM, GFX card etc might have become unseated?

I did not reinstall Windows, could this be it? Because it only happens when I play BRINK
you souldnt need to unless you swapped motherboard. brink performance isnt great to be honest. its such an erratic game.
I reinstalled Windows 7 and I still have the same problem.
This is sad because the game is awesome and I wanna play it. I hope SD/AMD will fix this very soon, it can’t be my system because I can run other games perfectly.
i would rebuild the pc from scratch. i remember years ago building one and it was having issues. it ended up being due to a screw falling down the back of the motherboard and shorting it out.
you also might have damaged a capacitor or something when you dismantled everything. ive seen that before too.

But why does it work seamlessly on other games?
Why did it work fine before the case swap, and now dosn’t is the more important question.
If you have more airflow and a cooler temp, then other than you having changed some configurations of your windows or the game config. The only real logical next step would be to double check your internals. IT HAPPENS.
If you changed anything inside windows or the game config you may want to revert those changes, and retest.
Nothing anyone can really do for you if you dont want to take the advice given.

and now I’m playing BRINK with 30-60 FPS without dropping to 10, works fine until the 11.6 release planned in june 15th
Having the same problem on 11.6 as I had on 11.5b hotfix. Would be nice with some information about drivers from SD.
11.5 11.5b 11.5c 11.6 all perform worst then older drivers like the 11.2 11.3 even 10.5, the recent ones feels + choppy for some reason and my issue is that i can´t use crossfire with the older ones .<
I think I know what’s the problem now.
Every time the FPS drops the CPU goes up to 90-100% usage, which is very weird. Any suggestions on what I should do? The CPU works fine on other games.
