cg_drawfps 1
I don’t think there is a maxfps setting for ET. I could be totally wrong, but I was always under the assumption that the server sets the game frames per second, and client side FPS are no longer tied to gamestate packet rate.
Of course, vertical sync can cap your FPS to your monitor’s refresh rate. You can toggle that in your video card’s display control panel.

You can “cap” the FPS at a specified rate so that it won’t go over it, but exactly what FPS you get at any particular moment is entirely dependent on your PC.
To see your FPS:-
/cg_drawfps 1 (in console)
To cap your FPS:-
/forcefps nn (in console, where nn is the FPS you want to cap at)
or add / amend this line in \etmain\profilesyourname\etconfig.cfg
seta com_maxfps nn (where nn is the FPS you want to cap at)
Good rates to cap at are:- 43, 76, 120 (whichever is the highest FPS your system can consistently maintain).
Theres a max fps option in your ETconfig.cfg like Kendle says ,Ive capped mine at 90
seta com_maxfps “90”
You can cap your fps with (type this into console and replace XXX with the framerate of your choice):
/seta com_maxfps XXX
And you can show your fps with:
/seta cg_drawfps 1
You should use 43, 76 or 125 as limit for com_maxfps, because that also helps you to jump higher (that is a leftover from the Quake 3 engine, see here for more info, additionally here is a very old thread (from the year 2000) about that issue). Be aware the your computer must be running constantly at the set framerate to get this work.
Wow, those articles are pretty cool. I’ll have to remember those links.
