Forums: Could not connect to smtp host

(Salteh) #1

There appears to be a slight problem with the forums at the moment… If you reply to a thread in which someone has enabled ‘notify me when a reply is posted’, you will be present with a nice error:

Could not connect to smtp host : 10060 : A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

Please don’t press F5 / Refresh, just use the ‘general discussion’ link or press the back button in your browser( to avoid double posts ). Despite the error, your message does get posted

Yeah, I’m gettting this error too. The last two replies I’ve made resulted in that error. And this one probably does too.

(Chruker) #3

Happens from time to time.
I’ve also experienced it today.

Had it loads today, i acciendtly posted about 20 times in 1 topic and had to spend ages deleting all the posts

(Salteh) #8

your signature appears to be missing a "

(psyco_mario) #9

Thats what it was missing! THANKS A TON!!!

(Bravo) #10

It also does it on answering private messages

(psyco_mario) #11

sooo… now whats missing? lol

(kamikazee) #12

Of course, it actually pops up at any time a mail needs to be sent. (SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)

It all depends on the place you post. Threads were no-one gets notified by mail won’t yield errors, others do. Same applies for PM’s.

(psyco_mario) #13

Anyone notice part of the error says etpub? lol

(MadMattUK) #14

drop both the " in your sig

like this

(kamikazee) #15

You forgot the [ code ] tags to make it clear:

[like this](http://www.splashdamage.com)

That should do it.
