Ah, Splash damage just reinvented the XP system…
On an unrelated note, the alt-texts of those awards are wonderful! Did Bongoboy have anything to do with them?

Hmm, shouldn’t there be only the last award in one “category”.
So if I make a post the awards “Year 1” AND “Year 5” is shown.
But only “Year 5” makes sense (“Year 5” includes “Year 1”).
So there would be more room for the other awards to be shown.
Oops, now “Year 3” AND “Year 5” is shown.
Strange.
Have not been bothered by any Berzerkr ‘features’ so far, but as I write this the award system does not recognize that I have an Avatar and the link that should explain the awards is 404. Guess I have to wait for a batch update?
Love the profile page skin customizations. if I was to ‘Oliver’* for more features I would ask for a custom avatar tooltip (mouseover/title) field and maybe option and space to embed some text level html in some fields.
(* Holler over ‘please sir can I have some more’ gruel)
So yeah, you have to wait for some kind of batch update
(I just ran the update manually, you’ve got the achievement now)
The page explaining the awards is missing indeed, I suppose we (Steve) should upload that too
That is an awesome avatar, btw!!
Thanks Salteh. Wooh 3 awards! Now I can be a real XP Hog.:stroggbanana: Mascots rule!
Really nice! Great job!
One thing seems to miss tho, I love looking at how many posts everyone has made, but now I need to open their profiles.
Since space on the new post layout is very limited, we decided to put Rep and Location on there while removing Post Count (which is still available on people’s profile pages). The reason is that those two stats are the most important to a reader - once the Rep system gets fully going, it will communicate a member’s standing in the community and the quality of their content, while Location is obviously useful for seeing straight away where someone is from (hopefully preempting ‘omgz ur english iz nawt gewt’ posts). Post Count on the other hand merely communicates quantity of contributed content and not quality, so I’m not sure how useful a statistic it really is to have on every post.
References to awards.php have been killed as it’s really rather redundant. Also fixed the profile picture layout issue raised by Berzerkr.
Thanks for all the feedback so far, folks! Keep it coming.
Alrighty , well then, let’s hope that rep. system will get the precious attention it deserves
btw:
This totally cracked me
This is just an idea, since the bottom area is quite empty. Did you think of this way too?
This would also remove some empty space around there.
Though, it’s not needed, as you saied we can still see post counts on the profiles.
Please, do something about the clutter before adding more stuff. I think the icons already take up a lot of screen estate… That, or I might just use a darn low resolution. I can be grumpy about that.
Also, you are not your post count nor your join date.
I know it is ironic for me to say such a thing, but does it really matter that much to show it with every post? Since the awards give a hint how many posts a user made, the same info is presented in a more eye-pleasing way. Combined with the user rating, you might get a clear view instead of the hard cold facts.
I would recommend to tweak it a little though - right now the awards are not “prioritized” in the recent awards view. For example, long-time users can sometimes be seen with their “year one” award at one time, and a “seamine” award at another.
Shouldn’t it always show the highest one in a category or is this done on purpose to avoid award hunting?

Well for me everything looks ok, what resolution do you use?
Yes i know, but some people (including me) wish to see the post count or join date. Also not always the award for how many posts have you done is shown. But it’s no problem for me to check the persons profile too
PS! I think i found a bug of somekind, after i posted this message my awards dissapeared. That happened yesterday too. Just had to refresh to get them back.
The awards on a post seem to disappear if you use the inline editing function (they reappear when refreshing the page). I’m not sure why this happens yet.
Is there a way to select the awards you want displayed other than just the most recent ones? I skiimmed through some of the posts here quickly but didn’t find anything. Apologies if that’s in the works or is already working and I just haven’t been smart enough to figure it out.
Also, what’s the cutoff date for the “Knew Em Before They Were Famous”? I feel jipped that I’m mid 2003 and got nuthin. That’s only a year and a half behind Fluffy!
Great job on the new layout by the way guys. It’s awesome stuff, hopefully it’ll breathe a bit more life back in.
do I need to say ‘Tapir’ ten times fast for my awards to show …if I have any ?
…I feel all sorts of left out and stuff.
