we have this CVAR for our 36 Noquarter server
set sv_maxRate “25000”

but we saw a lot of times players got kicked with this error:
VIOLATION (CVAR) #9001:XXXX (slot #19) Cvar rate = 40000

so what cvar line i have to add to force the players when they join to dont be kicked ?

i think that you have to increase the sv_maxrate “25000” to “40000”.

this will not cause servers problems ?
we rent our servers and did i have to ask first the servers hoster?

Use this command:

sv_cvar rate IN 4000 25000

In addition, I would recommend removing all PunkBuster restrictions of native WolfET cvars and transforming those removed restrictions to server restrictions (using sv_cvar instead pb_sv_cvar).

‘sv_maxrate’ has nothing to do with ‘rate’.

Did notice some admins force the rate to 40000 which is more than a bad idea …

  1. afaik the engine in case of ET is limited to 25000 anyway
  2. it screws up the setting of modem/poor connection clients and cause more problems than help

Bethy, please do not force any client related setting! It’s up to the user !!!

To avoid poor connection users on your server you might set

sv_cvar rate IN 15000 25000

The clients which rate is set to 40000 should correct their settings …
