posting personal information is not the best way to deal with this problem, you’re talking about 2.55 servers…Who Cares !! They’re bug, bot and exploit ridden, this is a good example. You should expend the same effort on converting people to 2.60 as you do on this nonsense of trying to make 2.55 servers compatible with the real world

You don’t understand the reason WHY people have and play 2.55… and I think you will never understand that. It is nothing against you or your opinion. And btw, 2.6b is nearly as buggy as 2.55… there are a lot of small bugs and savety issues on 2.6b, too. There are a lot of things fixed in 2.6b, but there are many bugs left. Of course, 2.6b is saver then 2.55, but not as much as everybody things.

all things considered … the rumours about the new patch are just overstated at the moment … if a 2.55 server is able to let 2.60 player join … who the heck cares … 2.60 players dont/wont recognize these servers, cuz they dont see 'em in their “serverbrowser” … so all discussion are a bloody waste of time in my opinion … if there wont be a “forced” update for every fci*g server/player in the future … we should stop discussions about “2.55 vs 2.60”

… in the meanwhile im just using e’s patch cuz its working for me
(so my servers got the same “uberprotection” like 2.60b … )

You don’t understand the reason WHY people have and play 2.55… and I think you will never understand that.

Lets talk about WHY.

Lets say I’m regular 2.55 player and here are possible reasons why I’m playing WolfET v2.55:

1. I don’t know about newer version.
2. I don’t know almost anything about 2.60 and 2.60b features and fixes.
3. I want to use cheats or abuse/exploit bugs.

Somebody can say „I enjoy 2.55 more than 2.60b.“. This is result of 1), 2) or 3) only.
Why I enjoy 2.55?

1. I enjoy 2.55 becouse I love WolfET and I don’t know there is more bug-free and more secure version of WolfET.
2. I enjoy 2.55 becouse I love WolfET and I don’t know what is improved in 2.60b but ppl says 2.55 is almost same as 2.60b.
3. I enjoy 2.55 bescouse I really like cheating and bug exploiting and these cheats or bugs don’t work in newer version anymore.

If you think there are different reasons why PLAYERS like 2.55 let me know.

If we are talking about 2.55 admins there is an extra reason why there are 2.55 servers: 2.55 admins are afraid of losing their players if they update their servers.

There are no gameplay changes in 2.60b (if we neglect bugfixes). If we are not cheaters it’s pointless take different gameplay in 2.55 and 2.60b as reason for prefering 2.55.

Yes, you are right. There is several known security issues and known bugs in pure 2.60b. If you want to pretty bug-free and secure server you can use latest mods like ETPro 3.2.6+ or No Quarter 1.2.5+ - there is fixed the most of 2.60b bugs. Also security fixes are done by ETPro/NoQ and by Lua scripts.

Heve you ever read WolfET changelog? Here is the 2.60 changelog which is containing chages since 2.55.
There is listed AT LEAST (not exactly - there is more!) one hundred of bug fixes. And if you are using some mod you will have have probably much more bugs in your WolfET becouse the most played mods are made for 2.60(b) naturaly.

And btw, 2.6b is nearly as buggy as 2.55…

If you compare bugs in 2.55 and bugs in 2.60b objectively you will find there is a much more bugs in 2.55 than in 2.60b. You can count more than one hundred extra bugs in 2.55 and some of these bugs (which are fixed in 2.60b) are quite dangerous.

So… Statement „ 2.6b is nearly as buggy as 2.55“ is very far way off truth.

My conclusion is: 2.55 servers are filled with players and they are not upgraded to 2.60b due to:
I. „not knowing“ players
II. cheaters and bug abusers
III. administrators fears of losing their players if they update game

I can’t see nothing personal in here. I just see list of servers where are players tricked by admins and by their fake PunkBuster. That list is based on general rules so it can’t be personal.

If you look on that list there is no mention about 2.55 or even 2.60. There is statment about „fake“ PunkBuster only.

It depends… if you are selfish and don’t want to help anyone except you… then yeah, nothing is your problem. But if you like helping to other people things around you start becoming your problems and you will be involing in them.

I can’t see any disadvantage for players arising from this fake PB list.
Only I can see disadvantages for admins who run fake PB.

the easiest way : idsoftware stops the masterserver of 2.55

it will bring a lot of people to fill 2.6 servers

PS: i’ve patched my server with 2.55+ version (on a jaymod 217 and omnibot 066) : really less CPU usage - pings are 5-10% lower - and still in the 2.55 masterlist

PS2: my server was in 2.55 since 2 years, because of reason : III. administrators fears of losing their players if they update game yes it is right - When I’ve tried the 2.6 patch, server was empty during some days - so revert to outdated 2.55

Wow wow. That’s just wrong. Very wrong! No matter how much we want ppl to update to 2.60b we can NOT force them to update. You say: “They don’t have to connect if they don’t want to”, that’s one really bad argument. I would be very pissed if I had 2.55 (and wanted to have it) and then accidentally connected to such a server and would have to reinstall ET.

I think it’s a bad plan too I’m also really not supporting this.
Splatterladder disabled most of the fake pb servers, main like T.C. and ETc.
A really large discussion is going on now, but it’s proofed you can cheat there. So until they fix it - it will probably like this I think.

Anway, the main problem is that 1 populair mod - noquarter doesn’t support it anymore. That sucks because more ppl play 2.55 ^^

you can cheat anywhere, stop talking crap about where you can cheat and where not , where the modified .so / dll files are or not, who has pb on or not cause of the hack or not. Cheats can be build in kernels meanwhile and try to proof that with punkbuster…pFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF…

I dont know what this whole conversation is all about, but you doing more AGAINST the serverlist then helping it. IF server run empty cause splatterladder is to stupid or some socalled “smart” kid make special lists, then a few servers will go down at the end…so maybe stop whining, play where your favorite place is and grab a coke.

OH and by the f*cking way, do NOT mention good admins, do NOT mention undetactable bots, dont focus on one thing, let everyone run their server like they want to. You dont even have one but enjoys to destroy a few…you pay 70 bucks for a server a month and read crap on SD, then we will see…

No, i dont care for Splatter, you misunderstood me.
Splatterladder rating is imho bad, but this whole subject is not ‘good’ for the community.
But that is just my 50 cents. If you want to make a list, gogo, i only look at my own server and vietnam mod sometimes and when i am really bored to hell, weigen mod (incl. a lot of crashes)…so, i i dont really care for ranks, lists or something like that. besides that, we have a admin that made a own php stats page like vsp, thats enough for our own community allto its broken atm

When you look at how many full/empty servers there are. And when you look on 2.60b compared to 2.55 etc, you will see that the fill rate is higher on 2.55 and the reason that I dont’like like 2.60b is that it’s always full of stupid bots xD
