For all of you out there with keys in the USA

I just want to let all of you know out there that have keys should be ashamed of yourselves that are not playing. There are about 15 us players that actually play this game. I see a bunch of players writing post and talking on IRC about the game but yet are not playing. I have seen some players writing posts on here that I have personally seen play like once or twice, making suggestions about game play. These same players are not only totally horrible because of the lack of effort, they are making suggestions out of no where. Just because you join a server one time and get totally ran over, does not mean that they need to dumb down the game or make a change for you. A player putting in 15 minutes of play to wright a 30 minute or in some cases playing 15 minutes to wright twenty 30 minute posts is just crazy. There is a player on the forum who is a complete corner camper and rotator, which I have seen play one time. He wrights the most post on the forums, making suggestions that make me cringe. This is the type of player I am talking about that needs to be putting time in playing. I have been on the last week and have been able to play one pug, and a couple shoot arounds. Thanks to Valdez. Leestyle, Inf3rno, bananas, adhesive, Evil-doer, deth, mr smilley, retsy, amazinglarry, sindoner and I am sorry for leaving out anyone else that I have seen play. I can say this I can count the people out on one hand that I am missing on this list. Everyone else needs to uninstall and hand over their keys so we can actually do a Alpha test. I am currently waiting to put input on things do to the fact I have yet to be able to play enough to give a proper opinion. Please take this opportunity to test seriously. There are people out there that would love the opportunity to play this awesome game. If you do not want to put in the effort please contact someone to relinquish the opportunity you have received.

You have to bear in mind this is alpha and some folks can’t play on their spec machines right now. On top of that its a busy time of year and we really didn’t send out many keys to US players, so there is quite a small pool of people compared to EU. We’ll be addressing all of these in the new year, so please bear with us.

There is really no need to try and lobby either, or shout folks down for having different opinions. Contrary to popular belief we’re not stupid, we don’t just go with the most popular opinion each time when we look at feedback :slight_smile: We have our own direction for the game and we have data to back up user feedback. It’s a combination of these, along with your thoughts and a lot of iteration, that will decide the choices we make, not post count and not boisterous debate.

Ok, I admit I haven’t played that much since the invite and the 1st build. My initial disappointment that the game is not going anywhere near to the same experience of ETQW was clear from the start. However Bighogins is right, if I’m going to give any feedback on the game I should be playing/testing it more regular.

So last night I played it for a few hours. Now I’m a bit rusty and my K/D was showing it (and I was mostly playing the lemming/engineer class).

I like that the soldier class is powerful but the grenade (flashbang) is a bit too much. Needs to be toned down a bit.
The knifing was ridiculous. Like I said I’m a bit rusty but I shouldn’t be losing 4 out of 5 engagements (knive vs shotgun). Maybe the increase in speed makes the knifing a bit OP?

Gameplay was not too good, and mostly digressed into bouts of TDM (I know its alpha testing and maybe some just want to “test” the gunplay), and spawn camping. Many testers left early because of this.

I don’t like how there is no prone in the game. Especially when you’re working objectives. Minimizing your visible profile while completing objectives is sort of meat and potatoes for engineers. It does give a small amount of survive-ability to planters and constructors and takes away some of the LOSs available from those trying to stop you. I brought this up during the testing and if I remember right the OP was very adamant about prone being completely unacceptable. Now I don’t remember it ever being complained about in W:ET and ETQW unless it was about “proning” during a firefight for a reduced hitbox advantage/exploit.

The engy shotgun is ok, but I’d like to see some other options. Maybe a GL as you level up? (maybe this already in I’ve only got to level 2) or a M16 option to the shotgun.

Why : I had few problems with the game/mysetting ect…and now its almost ok

I try to spectate to know what do ingame (as i dont know all parts of it (eg, the pumps part I was lost yesterday :frowning:
Also im not a Great Player and I dont want to slow the game teams too much while im learning stuff

in Forum: I try to give my opinions, ideas and stuffs…just to give ideas that might lead to something else that SD will decide .

Im aware that whats im suggesting can be rejected or will lighting something else to SD

I feel bad that I haven’t been able to play recently, but I will be back very soon. I really enjoyed the few weeks that I was able to play regularly.

…also What I had noticed from Alpha VIPs is that some are more good at:
-Detecting Bugs
-movement
-Gameplay
-Mechanic
-Graphics
-Sound
-New Ideas (or old but good)
-Advanced stuffs
-Servers side stuff
-Competition
-Etc…

What im trying to say is :That some guys Have some fields of knowledges on one or more off this^^
and like a team everyone contribuying in it in what they are best
So for me i leave to other more xpert of what im lacking of .

Yes sorry, I may be Euro but I don’t play very much. Mostly because the game doesn’t run very well on my machine :frowning:
Being Euro I’m still amazing regardless. :slight_smile:

I just want to say that I can only play DB for a couple rounds at a time before it starts to give me a massive headache from only having 20 FPS all the time, but I still show up to pugs that I get messaged about them. Plus my father’s PC used to have DB installed from my Thanksgiving break, so I actually put in a lot of time playing (although it was on those “amazing” Euro servers :wink:).

I’ve actually even spent a lot of time editing .ini’s to try to find a way to fix my problem, but it comes down to the CPU and there’s little I (and bananas, too, since we both have the same CPU, haha) can do outside of upgrade a computer that I won’t use after my Christmas break.

you have a similar spec to me, try lowering your resolution to 800.@ 4:3
at this its ok at 20-30 fps lots of death but hey.

Did you find anything?

Also if you can overclock it helps. I went to 3.3 ghz and gained a about 10 frames. E8400 overclocks nicely. Even stock cooling can get to like 3.4 ghz.

I didn’t really find anything that helped fix my problem.

I found a lot of stuff that made the game look cleaner, make texture quality less distracting, remove small decals, etc. I like having detailMode and maxAnisotropy both set to 0 just for the way they make the game look; there’s a few other settings I tweaked, but I can’t remember their names off the top of my head so they must not have done too much.

Just remember guys, MR. Smiley plays at 10fps all the time and has a full time job- so let him be the role model haha. But seriously though, I get where hoggins is coming from. If I didn’t have time to test or was fairly sure I wouldn’t want to play with below average FPS, then I would have never accepted the invite. I’m glad Brigand is returning too, as I know some people had that same attitude “not ET/ETQW clone in alpha, so not worth my time”. People forget we get to help shape the game here after all!
