Fletcher - Splashdamage/AOE of his nades

(k0k0nat) #1

What was really frustrating in the match yesterday:

Planted C4, used all of fraggers nades to cover it. Nades were arranged in a circle around the C4.

What happened:

Enemy engineer started defusing, I used my detonator … nothing happened.

That engi lost maybe half of his HP… he was defusing at max range, but 3 sticky nades should really gib people standing around it…

I mean that engi crouched around the C4 and took 3 nades into his face and wasn’t even impressed :frowning:

He’ll be getting some loving from the Smooth

(Glottis-3D) #6

will his nades be destructable mid-air at some point?

(Smooth) #7

No reason not to be

(Glottis-3D) #8

nice!

Are they nades or are they mines, oh lordy.

(k0k0nat) #10

I wanted to write nines… but that’s stupid.

Sticky Bombs

(AssortedStuff) #12

A possibility (?), the game considered the 3 sticky bombs as only 1 …maybe?
Something to be tested with a group of friends in a server.

Still need to buff the mines, they still feel so weak, they do nothing, they should be at least 5 times more powerful than they currently are, like an airstrike or panza from ET, not that I use him and are bias in any way

Nevertheless I like the idea, its a good concept and the design and execution of them is great.

A bit off topic, but I noticed Fletcher has higher movement speed compared to other characters with 110hp. I understand him being slightly faster than Bushwhacker, but it’s absurd he’s faster than sawbonez.

(Szakalot) #15

is he faster? isnt it just that he would use his secondary more, and running with secondary is faster than primary

(NeroKirbus) #16

his speed is the same as vasilli, it’s 420. Bush whacker and sawbonez are at 410. when i was cycling through the character’s i noticed the speed difference. Pictures below. Also, what are the exact values for weapons slowing you down again? I remember reading that shotguns had the lowest movement penalty.

The OP situation happened to me today too. Laid a trap of 3 stickies on a wall. Enemy Skyhammer came from around that corner and the detonation didn’t do almost any damage to him, though he was basically 20 cm away from the wall. It took 3 shotgun bodyshots to finish him…

Regarding higher speed, I don’t find it absurd. Why is it absurd?
Afaik he has weakest shotty and its RoF is also slower, so he needs compensation by dodge at close range.

The ahnuld has the largest range on all of the shotties which allows you to harass the enemies with it at a decent range. Of course, in most situations it’s better to use the machine pistol, but it’s still a force to be reckoned with. Having the same amount of health but higher speed just seems contrary to the design fundamentals so far.

Especially when shotguns have a lower penalty on movement speed compared to every other primary weapon.

Fletcher’s shotgun also has the largest magazine of all shotguns, which matters against all mercs who take 2 shots to kill.

I want to purchase an engineer. I’m undecided between Bushwacker and Fletcher. Bushwacker’s turrets can be used both offensively and defensively, and are amazingly deadly when they catch people off guard. Fletcher - I don’t know, sometihng about him leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I missed the free rotation. His stickies look spammy. I greatly enjoy Fragger’s grenades, which are about as non-spammy as it gets short of Skyhammer. Will I enjoy Fletcher ? He seems to less skillful to me. Can mines be used on attack effectively ? Bushwacker can deploy a turret to cover his ass while planting, and cover the charge from unexpected angles versus Proxy who needs to drop the mine right there and is predictable. Bushwacker’s turret also performs much the same function as Turtle’s shield, which is why I’m not excited about the 4th engy.

Even though Fletcher is far from what an awesome merc he used to be in alpha (nerfed), he has been the best freaking acquirement I made so far in DB. He requires patience to master and regular practice too.
